power windows switch - electrical

the drivers side Automatic down switch doesn't actually drop the window automatically. even when i hold the button then keep pushing past the first stop into where the window should activate express down.

anyone know where the fault in that is?

Thanks for the help!

The switch is a common failure point. Cleaning the contacts inside the switch sometimes corrects that. There may be a broken wire in the door jamb also.

how does that panel come off? do i just take out the screw in the door handle and that whole section pops out or are there clips in the trim?

thanks

To remove the door panel you may have a few screws to remove. Use a small putty knife to feel for the plastic pins along the door panel and carefully pry them out of the holes in the door.

I'm not sure, but you may be able to remove the switch panel from the door without removing the door panel.

yeah, I think the location determines the mounting...

if it's flat up against the door panel it's screwed on...

if it's on the armrest towards the top at an angle then it pops out...

but I can't confirm since I haven't had a '97 lego...
