hatchback open indicator stays on

Featured Replies

I have a '99 legacy outback. The hatch open indicator stays lit all of the time. I'd like to check out the switch in the back that controls it, but can't find any switch. Anybody know where it is hidden?

Thanks,

-Jeff

You need to adjust the lock on the hatch back. Real easy

The switch is part of the lock assy (not the handle or the key lock) at least that's how it is on my 98OB

I had the same problem in my ol' Ford Probe. The solution for me was a good squirt of WD-40 in the latch mechanism. As it turned out, the switch was just stuck and needed a little bit of lube to get it switching again.

I had the latch mechanism apart today. The switch at the latch is working, as tested with my ohm meter without the connector attached to it. My problem must be at the other end, or somewhere in between. It's probably something I'll just have to live with for a while.
