November 21, 200817 yr I tried to search the forum, but di not find the answer - what is the torque spec for the lugnuts on the front and rear wheels for the above? Thanks, -Michael
November 21, 200817 yr 65 - 78, depending which manual you're reading, or which know-it-all on the internet you believe.
November 22, 200817 yr Author I found pages from the factory manual, that I've downloaded from Subaru long ago, - it says 65 ft.-lb for both steel and alloy wheels. -Michael
November 22, 200817 yr 65 - 78, depending which manual you're reading, or which know-it-all on the internet you believe. Good call. I use a 75 ft-lb torque stick with my impact wrench, then follow up with 80 ft lb with my torque wrench. I do believe the factory spec is 70 ft-lb. It doesn't really matter much + or - 10; what's important is that you don't over-torque it with an air impact tool and damage/stretch the studs. Also, remember to re-torque after about 500 miles.
November 22, 200817 yr Author Well doing 80 ft-lb you are definitely overtorquing them by more than 10ft-lb, if one should believe the 65ft-lb value from the manual... I have no air tools, :-( just a good old trusty $25 torque wrench from Sears. I have the fancy alloy wheels, that came with the car from the factory, perharps steelies are more forgiving? -Michael
