87' GL with a bunch of problems

Featured Replies

I aquired "Candy" from a friend. He had purchased her in the hopes he could get his sucubis stripper rump roast ex-girlfriend a car and she could stop crashing his, but she turned "Candy" away like a plague sore and thus forever lost her chance at owning a wonderous piece of machinery like "Candy". So that was short and sweet and here is the problem,..(s)--the car had been running on 3 out of 4 cylinders since I got it. I finally replaced the sparks, cap, rotor, and wires, but when we did that it started acting funny,.. she will start, even run and make wonderful engine noises when we give her gas.. so I know it isn't wrong on the firing order. She has no power though and to maintain idle she needs to have fuel given to her or else she will quit. We thought it was probably the fuel pump[ and filter so we checked those out. The fuel pump is still squirting and the fuel filter was replaced. Now she will run and even move, but only if we give her gas. My "source" says it could be the passenger side timing belt, but I haven't checked it out yet,.., (timing belt covers,.. bolts,.. grrr!) any other suggestions?

Oh yeah she is a carburated 4 cyclinder 1.7 or 1.8 litre engine. I think,.. pictures to come soon.

timing belts most likely = ea82, especially with a carb and dist in the us

time to strip the covers off, no singles needed

go watch jerry springer!!!!!

im lost is candy the name of the stripper or the car.

BOTH

depends if you watch jerry springer, or if you are his guest :D

firing order is 1-3-2-4. #1 cylijnder is the front passenger. rotation is counter clockwise. #1 on the disty is the terminal on the rear of the cap just to the right of the clip/screw, pointong at the master cylinder.

the timing belt sequence is spelled out in the Ultimate Subaru Repair Manual forum
