Bleed Hydraulic Lash Adjusters/HLAs?

Featured Replies

I'm putting a set of stock heads on an EJ22T that have been 're-surfaced' per the original owner, but don't know if the rocker assemblies were removed to do this. If they were I probably need to bleed the HLA's, correct?

Is there anyway to tell if they need bled? According to the FSM, it looks to be a PITA.

Thanks!

I'd do them on principal. You'll have way lower chances of ticking. You'll likely find little specs of debris in a few of their inlets.

Pulling them out of the rocker is the hardest part, but doable. Carefully grabbing the shoulder with a pair of Vise Grips works pretty good.

At least these don't take a 2inch deep pan of oil like EA hydros.
