2009 Forester - anyone in possesion?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

New Forester has peaked my interest.

Looking at the X Premium with auto and moonroof.

Has anyone purchased and have notable comments?

Thanks in advance. R/ PK

Hey Shawn,

I agree, a Forester XT would be a slam dunk - except I just can't fathom to add another $4K to get it. (that's enough to buy another Legacy SS, for which I now regret selling my 93 - to quote Napolean Dynamite: "IDIOT!").

As we push the $30K limit now, visions of a Toyota FJ takeover. (Oh, did I type that out loud?)

Still though, I would like to hear comments for any version 2009 Forester.

thanks, PK.

Helped my sister get a good deal on one of those rare LL Bean 2009 Foresters.

She actually traded in her 2006 Forester XT due to some minor issues that involved going to the dealer too many times (hill holder adjustment was one). She was never thrilled about filling it up with Premium.

The 2009 is noticeably bigger and they restored the tilt back seats in the rear which the original 1998 Forester had. The ride seems quieter and you definitely notice the increase in head room too. The stereo is smarter and displays station info where available. She really loves the puddle lights option too.

She got one of the first ones sent out this way back in March and so far no problems. We have even had a few snowstorms to test the higher clearance too.

I got mine last May and i love it. The interior is solid and well designed and I had a lot of fun last snow storm . I was looking at getting the XT but I'm a stickler for manual and they only offer auto with the turbo. However the mondo sunroof rules.

Why duck at the thought of the FJ? That car has as much of a cult following as the Subaru does and I think it looks terrific!

If you do buy one and want to add accessories let me know I have put just about all of them on now. Most are rather easy to put in. The foglights are incredibly easy! Best value has to be the base 5 speed and then add what you want to make it yours.

Ipod kit is pretty easy too just time consuming the first time.

Too late for me. While I had four online dealer quotes (which I would call good if they put $3000 cash in the glove box), I ended up scoring a mint '01 H6 LL Bean Outback that stole my heart, and saved my wallet.

Still, thanks out to the lucky owners who answered and we can keep this thread for those with similar yearnings for the new Forester.

Being it's Motor Trend's 2009 Sport Utility Of The Year speaks to, at least in part, to why Subaru sales are up when every other manufacturer is down. I still would wait for 2010 and see if the Turbo Diesel will be available. Wonder if the vehicle frame, brakes, suspension will indeed be designed to match the towing capacity of the engine (from a 2.0 4 banger - amazing!)
