Things to look for when buying: 94 Impreza

Featured Replies

Just looked at a 1994 Impreza wagon .AWD. 5 speed. Manual locks/windows.

It has 150k on it and seems to run good. burns a small amount of oil outside of the motor (oil leak). Seems to come from the top part of the engine. Not sure when the oil was changed last but it looks great. Where are the usual leaks at? Body has a few dents and has a salvage title from front drivers collision. Has all been replaced. There is a slight leak under the passenger front seat dash, any particular place to look for this leak? Is there anything special that i should look for? i.e. cracks in specific areas or something that will eventually leave to a failure of some critical component. Is there any recalls or faults that pop up again and again in this specific make/year of car. What parts usually goe around this mileage and what can i expect to replace soonish down the line. Has a bad passenger side cv axle but a good one from a parts car comes with it. Also the rear wiper doesn't work but is probably a fuse or something relativly easy. Got the guy down to 1400$ for the car, sound like a good price? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. thanx in advance:banana:

Water leak under front dash is most likely dried out sealant around the windshield. A competent glass shop should be able to find and fix this without removing the windshield.

The rear wiper not working is possibly a broken wire in the cable harness going to the rear door. My '97 had the same issue at around the same mileage. Break is around the top passenger side of the rear hatch. I managed to fix mine but this will be difficult for the average owner.
