Getting some cash=more goodies

Recommended Posts

Ok so I am getting a little spending money and i want to

finish off my Wagon AKA 4xPoor  Current radiator

leaked one day and then vanished :-\ the fins are badly

rotted so I was thinking of picking up a Turbo one at

autozone for $140 :) Only one I could find at all in

Puerto Rico. Also toying with the idea od AC, but I am

unaware of costs. The comp. need to be sealed, orings, AC

dryer and a new condenser how much you guys think that

would set me back? Would also like to upgrade my brakes,

perhaps a kind soul will sell me a rear disc conversion

Perhaps some new brembo solid rotors and what pads?

They would see occasional autoX. Anything else you

guys suggest so I can have the most reliable vehicle

possible :) Would like to know my oil pressure my

gauge slowly stopped working and now is totally gone:mad:

suggestions? Would obviously like to spend the

least possible.

  1. axles
  2. crap pads
  3. crap shoes
  4. repaired calipers
  5. seafoamd
  6. new air filter
  7. new fuel filter
  8. new fuel pump
  9. plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor
  10. PCV
  11. 5spd swap with new clutch kit
  12. 4 new tires
  13. new sylvania headlights
  14. W. blades
  15. cleaned all grounds and installed grounding kit

how much can I complete a swap for?

As far as AC goes, its pricey. Most of the time, the add on kit will cost you anywhere from $300 on up just in parts. Finding a proper kit for a vehicle of this age might be difficult.

Since you are considering an engine swap anyway, might I recommend that you simply acquire the whole donor car instead of just the engine. That way you'll have all the odds and ends you'll need to complete the EJ swap. Additionally, most EJ cars came with AC, so all the brackets and compressor and such would be there. Then you just have to add the rest of the plumbing, most of which can be had from your donor car anyway. At that point, the only things I can think of that you will need will be the appropriate evaporator and the AC controls.

Prices vary by region, but you can get a decent parts car here for a couple of hundred dollars. Maybe the best approach would be to find a car that got rear-ended and buy the whole car. Maybe $1000 tops? That'll get you pretty much everything you need to do an EJ swap with AC. Then you just have to figure out the labor end of it. Are you doing the work yourself or haveing a shop do it?
