Gear ratio, 2wd v 4x4 ?

Featured Replies

i just got a 93 loyale 2wd sedan running, it has alot more acceleration than my 4x4 wagon, the 2wd has some testalia to it , a fair amount more than my 86 ea82 4x4 wagon, could it be spfi v carb ? , or is the 2wd model geared for better acceleration ?

being over 15 years old there's plenty of room for something not to be "as good as new" in any number of areas on the car.

FWD vs. AWD does make a small difference. and i wonder if the sedans are lighter than wagons?

you can look up the hp differences from carb to FI if you want.

the FI one is better? that's not surprising either. and unless the carb has recently been rebuilt or cleaned it's probably not %100. but even at %100 carbs suck. that's why yours is the "newest" one available from Subaru and hasn't been used since:lol:

Actually you could still get carbs from subaru till 89 on hatches and Justy(?)

As well as in other parts of the world.

Just nit picking......sorry

the spfi loyale was noteably faster

Well, hmm. Slightly more HP, about 700 lbs less weight, and 7 years newer. No real shocker there

Yes, SPFI is a bit faster, and the sedan is probalby lighter. But, I've owned 2wd and 4wd 1982 GL wagons, both with the same engines, carbs, etc. And the 2wd one felt noticeably faster. Lighter transmission and lack of the rear diff and driveshaft is some weight reduction, but still.... don't know why they felt so different.
