May 3, 200916 yr My 84 Brat is in bad need of a new radiator. Is there any chance I can find a new one that is not set up for a transmission cooler? I sure don't need a tranny cooler. Help! Richard
May 3, 200916 yr A quick check of Schucks/Checker/O'Reilly shows 3 different brands of new radiators available for my '82 BRAT. However... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PLI%2D433698&N=700+4294925045+4294907499+4294899824+4294924500+115&autoview=sku is the same radiator, and indicates an integrated trans cooler. Just a thought... it doesn't actually have to be hooked up, does it?
May 3, 200916 yr The last new one I bought for an EA81 was set up for the transmission cooler, but I just ignored those ports on the side I think. Or capped them.
May 3, 200916 yr Author I know it does not need to be hooked up but why have something I don't need. It did not come with one from the factory because it came with a manual tranny.
May 3, 200916 yr Been a few years ago now, like 4 or 5. But I called a few places that listed radiators for the EA-81, all of which had the cooler in them. Was told that they only carried that type, to reduce inventory. I can understand that. If you don't need the cooler, just cap the ends, or install a short piece of hose to keep debris out of there. You really don't need to do anything to the connections though, and can just leave them open.
