May 11, 200916 yr Hi, My 1994 impreza has not been starting so it has come to the Crank Angle Sensor. My friend told me theres a special way to install it. Do I just pull out the old one and place the new one in? Or is there more to it? Cheers
May 12, 200916 yr The hardest part is that the wire snakes under the intake manifold & coolant crossover pipe. If you can wiggle it out and wiggle the new one in, it's pretty easy. There's only one bolt holding it in. Have you confirmed you do not have spark before you replace the crank sensor?
May 13, 200916 yr Author I have replaced the Crank Sensor and my car still does not start. I even charged up the battery. I checked for spark before everything, all four spark but how much spark is needed? They all made little sparks using another spark plug. I'm assuming it was enough spark.
May 15, 200916 yr If you have spark & fuel, the next thing to check is that the timing is firing at the right times. I'd check that the timing belt hasn't jumped a tooth. You can do this by aligning the timing marks on the cam pullies and crank gear to make sure they align properly.
