Source for NTN rear wheel bearings?

Featured Replies

Another rear wheel bearing in the 99 forester is noisy. Had a shop do it last time due to time/distance constraints and don't know if he did it wrong (stressed the race) or the part was junk.

Anyhow, the Nasioc report specs a "Nissan" superior part, and references to NTN are made, but all I see is Timken, Koyo and "Beck Arnley" without manufacturer name.

I am sure there are bad new bearingsz out there, and I don't want one of those this time.

Where to get?

Thanks

If I remember right Subaru was using ball bearings for the rears on Imprezas and Foresters back then; which had a higher failure rate. Your mechanic may not have known this and simply used another set of ball bearings. The mechanics in the know, used the rear wheel bearings for a Legacy of the same year; which are tapered roller bearings. The tapered roller bearings last a lot longer and they maybe the NTN bearings you're looking for.

I just put a Timken roller bearing in the rump roast end of my 2001 Forester and it is perfectly quiet so far. pm me if you want my step by step guide to using the Hub Tamer to get it done. Any shop that puts ball bearings back in there is screwing you by ignoring the Endwrench article on the web since 2003 that specifies using tapered roller bearings.
