2002 outback, no power

Featured Replies

Help me. I have an 02 outback with the 2.5 and have major power loss, it could not make it up my drive way yesterday. It is showing no codes and will drop power at highway speeds and/or stutter at random times. It will also stumble after a refuel.

suggest you check fuel pressure at injector supply rail with key on to verify fuel pump is working. Dying electric fuel pump will usually give erratic hard start problems. Fuel pressure regulator can have a ruptured diaphragm that will cause rough idle and tend to flood the throttle body through the attached vacuum line. How about spark plug leads? Damaged leads due to rodent chewing can cause misfiring and poor power.

I have a 2001 Outback that is currently doing the same things. I know that I have an Oxygen sensor slowly going out. Could this cause the same problem?

Lets throw a vacume gauge on these puppies to rule out valve timing and a collapsed/clogged exhaust.

How many miles are on these cars?

Is there an CEL?

Are they automatics or manuals?
