what's a suitable replacement for the spring that returns the clutch fork on an ea82 d/r 5? I had one on the s/r 5, but it may have been kind of whimpy - neither car had one when I got them, they seem to fall off (?) or get left off

Your Subaru didn't come with a clutch return spring from the factory because EA82 Subarus with a manual transmission, came with a hill holder. The hill holder also works as the return spring for the clutch fork.
