January 26, 200422 yr Instead of using Heet i'm sure there is a cheaper way or even better way of removing water from gas. I know the main ingredient is Isopropyl Alcohol. I don't know if you can buy IPA off the shelf tho Max
January 26, 200422 yr I was under the impression that HEET was pretty cheap. Like $1.99 a bottle. You shouldn't need more than a couple bottles. I guess if you wanted to get complicated, you could put a fuel/water separator off of a diesel car/truck on there. Big capacity fuel filters with that setup.
January 26, 200422 yr Regular Rubbing Alcohol has 70% isopropyl in it-just run your tank low on fuel and add. Good luck, been using it for yrs. Dave
January 26, 200422 yr the other 30% is water, which sort of defeats the purpose. The isopropyl dry gas is cheap, I use that.
January 27, 200422 yr If you look you can usually get 90%(IIRC) Isoprpyl on the shelf of the drugstore. But I think some denatured alchol (mostly ethanol with methanol added to poison you on purpose if you try to drink it) from the paint depertment would work and be a little cheaper than dry gas from the carparts place.
January 27, 200422 yr Forget the idea of denatured alcohol. It's a LOT more expensive than Heet. Check out the paint department at Home Depot or Lowes. ~Howard
