86 help with clutch lever...

Featured Replies

hi,

first time posting here...

i have a 1986 GL10 4x4 wagon EA82 and have pulled the engine due to a broken clutch lever arm. Does anyone have the part number or if these are the same as the ones found in previous EA81 models?

this doesn't have any hill-assist, just the standard clutch-cable attachment.

this was getting worse over time and finally became unshiftable.... i was quite suprised to see the shape of that lever. cracked all around the centre.

i sure hope i can find another one of these. if anyone has suggestions of a source in canada, please let me know. clutch, plate and bearings look in great shape!

....

edit... may have found the part number ??? #30531-AA090 Lever Clutch Rel

I don't believe they are the same as the EA81's. You should be able to get a good used one at the junk yard or from the wanted forum here on this board. They are common and rarely break. You could also weld your cracked one - it would likely never break again with a bit of reinforcement.

thanks for the help... we did think about welding but are unsure about the type of metal they used? would it become more brittle afterwards? definitely a consideration if we can't track one down.

can i post some pics on here? i can show you what i mean.

i think they are different now that i'm looking at the parts guides, etc.:(

I'm sure it's just plain steel.

Weld it, then heat the entire piece to red-hot with a torch - let it air cool and you should be good. That will relieve any stresses cause by the welding.

Hi,

There are two different arms and to-bearings and pivot pins, be sure to ask for 4x4 application for ea82 series parts. the turbo application is also the same , the 2wd non turbo is different.

2wd non turbo is different.

That's because the 2WD EA82 tranny is a carry-over. It's the same as the EA81 tranny and thus uses the EA81 clutch fork - same as the EA81 4WD's used.

on the parts listings pdf that i found on this site it doesn't differentiate between 2wd and 4wd? just 78-82 and 83 -

EA82's didn't come out till '85 so all of those part numbers will be wrong. The PDF is probably differentiating between top mount starter and side mount starter.....

You need a parts breakdown for an '85 or newer (4WD).
