EJ 2.2 single or dual port exhaust

Featured Replies

I picked up a EJ 2.2 with single exhast port heads I also have have the dual port EJ 2.2 enginge would like to make a carbed engine with good offroad lowend torque what are the differences in those heads and cams and which should I go with ? are they the same just different exhast casting? or ??

the difference is in the heads, they have siamesed exhaust ports. you can look up power differences on cars101.com with the 1995 being dual ports and 96 being single port. i would compare those two since they are the most identical except for the exhaust deal.

pretty sure the power difference is rather small.

The Single port heads (later) have roller rockers and slightly more lift.

I've always thought the best combo would be to use the Dual port heads with the rockers and Cam from the later single port head.

There are roller rockers on 1995 engines as well.
