Going to the junkyard today. I figured id pull this from one of the cars and test it out on mine. 2 questions. 1 where the heck is it on the motor, and 2 how do i know if its a good one.

Ben

Passenger side of intake, bolted to the area where the thermostat housing is. 2 wires with a green connector

test for resistance to be around 2-3k ohms when cold, and around 300-500 ohms when warmed up, with a smooth transition between.

Kinda hard to test it on a junkyard engine which i cant start, but i like your enthusiasm. I was leaning more twards if the ends were coroded or something.

It doesn't need to start. You can test them out of the car. just measure resitance across the two connections.

heat it with the flame of a lighter to warm it up.

Yep - take your DMM and test the resistance of the thing. Get ya one of those crack-pipe torch lighters and heat it up - the resistance should drop pretty smoothly.

You can test the one that's in your car now and see if it's any good with the same method. It might not even be your problem.
