I don't understand why I cannot pull my subaru on a tow dolly. It is a 1985 BRAT With the manual transmission in neutral and the 4WD not engaged won't it be OK. We are only talking 10 miles or so. towing.

Year, make, model?

There are a lot of options that affect whether or not this is doable.

Who told you that you could not?

If it's a part time 4WD model and the 4WD lever is in 2WD then you absolutely CAN tow it as far as you like.

It's the Automatic's and the FT4WD/AWD cars that have a problem with two-wheel towing.
