Exhaust Hangar Differences???

Just finishing putting a 97 legacy GT 5 speed trans to MY 96 outback. The exhaust pipe is robbing against the heatshield(alu thin heatshiled that sits btw drive shaft and exhaust)

Did the exhaust hangar (on the tail section of the trans) that bolted to trans btw the two trans are different? 97 LGT could be shorter?
