Rx wont start after collision

Recommended Posts

So today i got screwed. I had a minute accident but my car got hit on the right side. pretty much no damage other then the corner light needs to be replaced. but the weird thing is now it wont start. it cranks but wont turn over. i just dont get it. I checked the battery and all its connections since its pretty close to where the car got hit. any idea what might have caused this. i know its really vague but im really curious. Im not gonna be able to fix it myself anyway since the cars been impouned and with all the other list of fees and towing charges i cant afford to have it towed again.

When you turn the car to the On position, but without starting it, do you hear the fuel pump kick on for a couple of seconds? If you don't, the fuel pump shutoff may have been tripped. I think it is behind th drivers side rear trim panel, but i would like someone else to confrim this and to say how to reset it.

Could have also popped a fusible link, check those. Do the indicator lights and whatnot come on with the key in the "ON" posistion? If not, check the fusible links. Best way is to physically remove them and tug on the ends gently, if they come apart on ya, they're bad. (Usually when they blow, the blow internally, and from just looking at it they look fine, but when you tug on the ends, they will come apart.) Don't be tempted to replace them with plain wire, but you can get fusible link wire and make your own.

While checking the fuseable links out, this one suggests that you remove the box they are in from the body of the vehicle, and check the connections on the underside. One could have been corroded enough to have snapped off from the smack of the accident.
