what happens if you start in 1 and manually shift to 2?

what happens if you start out in 2? and shift to 3?

with the selector in 1 , the trans is supposed to stay in 1, and not shift until red line, to protect the engine.

with the selector in 2, it is supposed to start in 2 and stay in 2 until the engine reaches red line, for protection.

try it.

are you sure the trans is in first when you start?

what are the rpm @ 30mph?

when the trans is in ''limp'' mode,

all of the electronics are gone, no shifting.

the trans defaults to a mechanical 3rd gear and stays there, no shifting.

does this sound familiar.

i can manually drive starting from 1st 2nd 3rd to drive with the button on shifter deactivated where it is yellow not green on dashboard. when driving regular it stays in 1st well over 5k rpm around 30mph i'm close to 4k rpm if i give gas it redlines if i ease on the gas it runs 3.5k rpm then shifts not sure if it goes into 3rd and on i did a complete drain with filter change and oil replace with a bottle of lucas but no difference in the manual showed the band screw located on the top left side of the transmission anyone has experience on the adjustment screw i was told to do i 1/4 turn clockwise tightening then try i haven't messed with it do to lack of experience on bands and tight budget thanks for the advice...

typically an electronic problem would give you a flashing ''power'' light at start up,

i'm pretty sure, i have not owned a 90 - 94,

but hats what the 95 - 99s do except it is the AT Temp light,

they don't have the ''power'' light.

there is a special ''handshake'' dance required to check for trans codes, 90 - 94.

so it may be worth it to search for it and do the dance, just in case..

The "Manu" button lights up yellow.

"power" light is green.......Are you seeing the power light on while driving???

Kinda sounds like your in "power" mode which is activated by a fast stabbing of the gas.

Does your speedometer work?

do a search for ''readingtranscodes'',

you are looking for the handshake fo the 90 - 94 cars.
