Skinnyman227
Hello Fellow subi lovers! I have done extensive research on what rim and wheel sizes will fit the 1990-1999 outbacks as i have a 1997 limited 2.5L. I know i want 17x7.5 alloys to replace the 15x6s that come with the car but i am confused about the offset and centre bore. the OEM specifications say +55 offset so as to prevent premature wear on the bearings but many forums and tire listings suggest that +48 is the way to go for the OBW. Also, the Centre Bore has got me confused! The OEM specs for the 1997 subaru legacy outback say a centre bore of 58.1mm is correct but as before, many forum threads and tire listings are saying that a 56.1mm bore would work fine! I am quite confused and getting discouraged. I want to eventually do an OBSTi build and i am good in the eingine department and am learning about the wiring systems as well but the suspension and tires got me beat! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

ocei77
There was a similar recent post. A search which show a lot of options. Don't know the bore but you can easily use a 17x7 rim. A 7.5 is pushing it. You can go down to about a 48 offset with a 7". Your tire profile will be a major consideration in this regard. Without rolling fenders the widest you can go is 225/45. Go to this site (see attached) and it will let you know. O. rimsntires.txt
AdventureSubaru
Can't say for sure. it would be close. You could always put a set of 1 inch 5x100 hub spacers on to clear the difference.
