1996 Legacy Problem's and vin check

Recommended Posts

I'm looking a 96 Legacy 2.2 with 81k on it. Is there any typical problem with this year and model? Also is there anybody that can run a full vin check on it for me. Vin #4S3BK425XT7303706 Please email it to korrupt66@hotmail.com I've never owned a Subaru newer then a 93 and never a Legacy just Dl's, Gl's and Loyals. Any help would be great . Thanks guys!

great motor. the timing belts will need to be changed or at least checked if you don't know the condition. fortunately these motors pre-97 i believe are non-intereference 2.2 liters so if the belt breaks you shouldn't sustain any engine damage. slap a new belt on and drive along.

Well I got the vin check done and got great news. This car had one owner. I didnt hear back for any body about problems. I just wanted to know what to look for such as oil seal leak or when the timing belts go stuff like that. Any info would be great.

You will love the new models esp since you come from the gl/loyale world.

They do not leak as bad as the old ones did. Timing belts are way easier to repalce, only one, and while in there tighten the oil pump and new seal and replace cam and crank seals and you are good to go with a leak free subaru.

I have a 95 Legacy. Been driving it about 5 months now. Love it. Great car. Super engine. I have 160,000 miles on it and it runs smooth. Gas mileage is disappointing for a 4 cylinder, but then again it is AWD. You'll love the car. Several people here brag about the 2.2 being such a great engine.
