anaphe
I had a new clutch installed about 2 years ago. Now the engagement seems to be very high say the last 1 " of travel. There is no slipping, shuddering or noises. Can this be adjusted or is my relatively new clutch (15000miles)going south? BTW it has the hill holder and it is functioning fine. frag
Did that happen suddenly or progressively? Is it possible it's very cold outside and the cable has shrunk? I would give the cable adjusting nut (where the cable join the release fork on top of the bell housing) a couple turns of slack and see what happens. edrach
As the clutch disk wears, the adjustment gets tighter and eventually the clutch will start to slip because it's not allowed to engage completely. Check the adjustment (about 1/16" play at the clutch fork; 1/2" play at the clutch pedal); these are "my" specs; I'm sure someone knows the actual numbers. As to where the clutch engages, I've never been able to change that without messing up the specification on the clutch pedal play.
wrxsubaru
I belive the specs are 1/2 - 1 inch of play in the pedal before it pulls on the cable.
