madmac18 Posted June 24, 2005 Share Posted June 24, 2005 Howdy, I'm a Subie Newbie...get it? I have just aquired my first Subie, an '84 GL wagon 4x4. It has the 1.8 with 2 bbl carb and 4 speed. A friend has a '90 Loyal wagon 4x4 that he might give me. I was wondering if any of you could tell me if any parts off the '90 can go onto the '84, as far as suspension, brakes, engine and tranny? Also, I have no idea about the jargon I'm reading about, like EA82 and stuff. What are these I have? Are those engine numbers or chassis? Hard to read the threads when I don't know what they mean! Ha ha. Love the site. Much thanks to ScoobyWagon for pointing me this way. Got the car for four-bying, so hope to get together with others in WA who know something about these cars. Have had Hondas forever, but can't off-road them very well! TheSubaruJunkie Posted June 24, 2005 Share Posted June 24, 2005 Probably the only thing that will bolt on are the rear brakes. Almost everything else is different. subarubrat Posted June 24, 2005 Share Posted June 24, 2005 While not technicaly a bolt in, the engine and tranny are not difficult to swap in. Sounds like not something I would want for parts unless it had rear discs and maybe good tires, but possibly put it together for the nephew. :-\ If it was an auto, I'd fix it for my mom, but alas... I'll do some reasearch on these numbers. Would like to know what I'm looking at! Just picked up a Haynes for it yesterday.
