Skip Posted January 17, 2004 Share Posted January 17, 2004 I just went out and measured the stock rad fan for my 87 wagon. Pulled 7 amps on 12Vdc. MilesFox Posted January 19, 2004 Share Posted January 19, 2004 skip, i remembered the fan on my grand am had 10 ga wire, and it got the relay hot enough to mely the plastic around the terminals. but this was a GM, this is what i drew my assumption from i would go with a 15 amp rating from what skip said. baccaruda Posted January 19, 2004 Share Posted January 19, 2004 anyone know what the CFM ratings on the stock electric fans are? there's the EA82 fan that sits under the upper radiator hose, and there's an EA81 fan that is round with three mounting points.. new fans from the parts store usually have CFM ratings and it would be nice to compare if one has a mind to upgrade... Rooinater Posted January 19, 2004 Share Posted January 19, 2004 i have twin fans, twin 30 amp relays. i've fried one relay do to a spike of volts going to the fan. so i'd say stay with the higher amp rating. personel experiance and they are only like 5 dollars or less.
