I got the flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, clutch cable, pedal assembaly off of a 86 4WD D/R non-turbo carbed GL. I put it on my 89 AWD turbo GL-10. The problem I have is that I can press the pedal all the way down and the clutch wont disengage all of the way. I have the cable adjusted all the way back so the fork is tight. Any suggestions on what I can do.

No i'm not talking about a neutral safety switch on the manual. I talking about the two connectors coming off of the trans. They wont plug into the connectors the auto unpluged from. I don't kno where to wire those into.
-
How do i wire the two connectors on the manual transmission?
-
Does anyone have any wiring diagrams that shows how to wire the transmission in?
-
I took the auto out and put a 5spd in. Everyone said that if you don't rewire the neutral safety switch from the auto the car wont start.

Another qusetion I have is about wiring. I'm not that good a it, I can wire audio and put switches in but thats about it. On the 5 spd there are two little connectors and on the 4 spd auto there are two big ones and a little one. How do I wire the thransmission in? And how do I wire the neutral safety switch?

I am converting my gl-10 to a manual. I have never installed a clutch before and I need to figure out how to align the clutch disc. In the Chiltons repair manual it says to use a clutch alignment arbor to align the clutch. What is it and where can i get one? And does the pressure plate have to go on a certin way?

Does it matter if it comes off of a carbed non turbo engine?
-
Pretty sure either will work?

Will the flywheel out of a 86 5-spd non-turbo d/r GL or 89 FWD 5-spd GL work for an 89 5-spd turbo AWD GL?
-
Thanks. I bet you a million dollars this car was in the junkyard because someone put a 3.9 in it and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It only had 100,000 miles on it, 4 new axles, new alt, all of the fluids looked like they were just changed, and alot of other stuff. I tried to get the yard to sale me the whole car but they wouldn't.
-
Its not d/r, and its fulltime AWD. And came out of a turbo car.

I got the 5-spd tranny and diff off of a car in a JY. The diff was a 3.9. On the console there was a diff lock switch but this was not a locking diff. The car had alot of new parts on it so I think someone put the wrong diff in it and junked it because it wasn't workin out, but I am not sure.

I read some stuff about gear ratios and I am still confused. Are all turbo GL's 3.7 auto or manual and all non turbo GL's 3.9 auto or manual? And is there a stamp or lable on the transmission that tell u the gear ratio for the front diff?

Dose anyone know if you can use the clutch pedal assembly and cable out of a 86 4WD GL or 89 FWD GL for an 89 AWD GL-10?
-
Can someone answer the qoestions above?
-
I need to know this stuff before I go to the JY today. Can someone please help me out?
-
I was reading something on here and wanted to know what the gear ratios are for auto and 5-spd, turbo, nonturbo. And can someone help me with the stuff above?
-
I went today and got the transmission, driveshaft, diff, and shifter. There is a diff locking switch but there wasn't anything connected to the diff. I was thinking someone put a different one in. And I read somewhere that the diff should be a LSD if in is off of a 89. I couldn't figure out how to get the clutch pedal assebaly out, dose anyone have any pics or can tell me how to get it out I am going back tomorrow. There where two cables hooked up to the clutch lever on the tranny one went to the pedal, what is the other? And do all of the wireing harnesses hook up the same as it did to the auto? Thanks alot, Alex

thanks alot.

Can anyone give me any tips for taking the 5-spd transmission out? Do I have to unbolt anything like you have to do when you take out an automatic? (Like unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate)

I am going to the JY this Saturday. I wanted to know if I need any speciail tools I should take to get the trans off. And I have never taken a manual trans mission so I wanted to know if I need to make sure I do anything before I pull it out. The auto was simple enouft to get out. Hopefully I will be able to drive my car by the end of this weekend. Could some one answer the question i posted last. Thanks!

If the other car is non turbo will i only need the front axles. ?
-
I have been reading post about doing a 4spd auto AWD to a 5spd stick. Some of the post say the same thing but some are different. I want to know what trannys from what years will work. I have an 89 GL-10 turbo wagon. I know I need the tranny, diff, drive shaft, shifter, flywheel, clutch cable, and pedal. I think I read if I use a 5spd out of a n/a car I will need the axles too. Are the number of splines the same on the outer shafts of the axles the same, or will I need the hubs too? I know where about 10 Gl- 10s are in a pull-a-part JY. I just wanted to know which trans would work.

Ok thanks for the help.
