  1. I am trying to identify them so I can sell them correctly. Which is the ECU & which the TCU? The cad/gold colored the TCU?
  2. I picked up 2 ECUs from under the drivers side dash from a Legacy Turbo auto. at the salvage yard. Any help telling me exactly what they are? THanks.
  3. I read a discussion on the earlier Legacies using overseas headlamps. They were glass, and were much much better. I imagine entirely similar to upgrading VW lamps to euro-spec. Done that on several also - however, this is just what I have heard and it was for the 90-94. I would imagine the later models to have the same better European lamps, though. Let us know what you find.
  4. I haven't seen inside a Subie yet, but other motors I have seen piston cooling jets basically are tapped into oil galleys and just point at the underside of the piston. Some have pressure valves so they don't start squirting until a certain psi in the galley is surpased.
  5. Be sure and check in on the ice/snow tires. Most Goodyear/Bridgestone/Discount tire places will now store the tires FOR YOU for free or tiny fee, and the mount/dismount is free or significantly reduced. My step mom's Lexus gets this. No muss, no fuss for her, call them, go in, done. (in Iowa) The amazingly better traction of Blizzak-type tires is truly incredible & it only takes one crash-avoidance for them to more than pay for themselves. I won't own a winter vehicle w/o dedicated tires (in Colorado).
  6. If it does turn out to be a differential, I would press Subaru as to answer the "why" question. In terms of repair, I think it would be much cheaper to go with a used transmission or even a rebuilt one. I have had a few AWD cars, but never a Subaru (Newbie). But, if I understand some of the Subie systems correctly, a front differential shouldn't go bad from different sized tires front to rear - only the center differential (or viscous coupling, or torque transfer device in the automatics I think) would be affected. I have run into that on center viscous setups.
  7. I've got one in my Rockcrawling Toyota pickup. I took it apart and cut off the limiters so it can go past 30 degrees, as often happens on the trails. No real use, just for fun for me. I also already had a 4wd indicator light, so I used a 2 1/16" hole saw and cut a hole in the plexiglass and clearanced the plastic behind it and mounted an oil tem gauge in there.
  8. I have been looking for a Legacy Turbo and found a crashed one. It needs some front sheetmetal and a rear qtr. I was wondering if the radiator support and front fenders and rear qtrs are the same. I assume they are, just the bumper cover and hood (with a scoop) that are different. Thanks.
