Looks like Vanishing Point
-
I can't believe this guy is from Brewer. I grew up in the town across the river called Bangor. Oh wait I can believe it. We never liked people from Brewer.

Invest in a Time Sert for this. It's like a heli coil but ten times better and it's the right way to do it.
-
do you have any pictures of the build process?
-
No. I think my step dad saw it on the news. I've got two straight doors if you need them.
-
I heard that a Subaru got tipped that night. I never would have imagined it would be somebody from this board.
-
Is that a small frame Vespa in the background?

How much does the BYB kit drop the rear crossmember?
-
I've got to get pictures...
I built a massive skidplate out of 1" box tubing welded to angle Iron that bolts to the origional point on the crossmember and new holes in the radiator support. I cut and welded the tubing to bend it to a shape that gives the best approach angle while still protecting the pan. Each arm of the skidplate frame runs alongsde the pan, one under the oil filter, one under the thermostat housing. A formed 1/8th inch plate bolts over it all.
It's awesome, and it's taken a couple of hits. it would take a lot to bend it.
Do you have any pictures?

On my last wagon I had to beat in to wheel well. I was wondering what kind of clearance I could gain by dropping the crossmember a inch. I don't mind trimming but I wanted to see what my options are before hand.

My 28's are still in good shape and that was the smallest tire I could get that works well down here in the desert.
-
why? by adding blocks, you're drastically weakening suspension.
if you're not changing the strut extension, you wouldn't have to lower the diff anymore. but in order to drop the front of the trailing arms to flatten them out, you have to drop the crossmember, which the front diff hanger is bolted to.....so it'll get dropped anyway.
I just didn't want to cut up a straight rust free body to make my tires fit. I was wondering how other lifts work as far as the rear end goes.
-
Would I also have to drop the rear diff?

I would like to modify my AA lift kit so that the rear wheels are'nt kicked so far forward. What would I need to do(space out to do this)?

quote=Phizinza]The 23 and 25 spline count are on the diff side, the hub sides are all the same.
The rear dif is 23 spline always.
The front diff on the turbo model is 25 spline. You can use the stubs from a 23 spline front diff gearbox but it would require you to split the gearbox apart which is quite a lot of work. What is easier is to use the 25spline driveshaft inner cups and put them on the new(?) driveshafts using the new ball race and everything. This is easy because all you need to do is loosen the boot clip, pull the boot back and remove the cups retaining ring. Then pull the cup off and fit the 25spline one on then to the reverse.
So the splines at the rear hubs are the same either way? In the front I'll be using a 5sp dr from my old gl which is 23 spline. That being the case can I just swap in my 23 spline front axles?
-
How hard is it to change out my stub axles(inside the hub)? I want to go from 25 spline on a 87 turbo gl to 23 spline. Are the od's /id's in the front the same making a straight forward swap? What about the rear? Do I need special tools?
-
just one question though... why an ej radiator? or do you have a ej motor?
csf two row all metal has made my cooling system very happy
It's a EJ-EA swap and I don't want to have to adapt hoses to fit.

I would like to get higher quality or new.

Why would I do research because you own both movies?
