  1. Well we looked at it, and it isn't getting spark like we thought..... any thoughts? coil is new, cap/rotor are new, wires are relatively new, plugs aren't bad... other than the ignitor, could it be out of time? any other thoughts would be helpful
  2. Right underneath? I did see it I think, I'll have to go out and check tomorrow to see if any wires are loose... I do have to say though the coil looked like the original one that came with the car!
  3. Alternator is good.... It does seem to throw a code right when it fires up, i'll check tomorrow to see what it says... where is this igniter? In the disty?
  4. Its an ea82t, ran fine before it sat for 2 days, then it wouldn't start. Changed the cap/rotor and coil, plugs and wires are relatively new, and it is still getting fuel. It wont stay running, it starts, RPMs jump to around 3k, then dies. Any suggestions? I'm trying to find out what to do next.... Thanks
  5. Fuel filter was just changed about 1500 miles ago, and it happened before that.... also, it doesn't matter if its under boost or not, and it doesn't throw any codes when it does it... Could the spark plugs be causing it?
  6. first off its a EA82T... I'm getting a weird cold start issue, but only when its below about 40 degrees or so... It starts up fine, idles fine, but once I start driving and the temp gauge starts to rise, it will start bucking like it isn't getting enough fuel. It doesn't do it with the clutch disengaged, it only happens when the engine is loaded. It will go away after the engine warms up a bit more, and I don't have a problem after that. Any ideas? Could it be the clutch slipping when because it is cold? or maybe the IAC? I tried searching the forum to no avail. Thanks in advance........

  10. they had a tsb long ago about noise through the gearshift... something about the cup the shift rod goes into...... i cant remember now, but i know that mine does it also
  11. 87 gl EA82T 2WD 5spd... dont know the mileage on the engine b/c it was a junkyard unit i got from subeman90 i usually get around 26-30 mpg with a mix of city and highway cruising at 65 mph... i did get around 34 on one tank though
  12. Yeah they are annoying most of the time.... i have a diesel jetta that tells me to upshift at idle, and also when im going 65mph in 5th gear... i think it thinks its funny....
  13. there is a little screw by the throttle body that adjusts the idle speed... i had to partially remove the top manifold to get to it, but it isnt a big job

  16. im pretty sure the owner's manual in my gl says 87.... not 100%, but im pretty sure
  17. no upgrades.... and because money is tight right now, im running 87 w/ lucas fuel additive in it... i'll use some 93 next fill up and hopefully that helps too

  19. 87 gl turbo, mpfi.... usually the idiot light flickers at idle, it stays on maybe 3 - 4 seconds and will flicker... it doesnt usually come on above 3k rpms... i got a code in u-check and i think it was 22, which would mean the knock sensor, but im not 100% sure, because the light wont stay on long enough most of the time... when it comes on, the idle jumps about 200-300 rpms... when it comes on higher in the revs, the car seems like its losing power.... any help would be greatly appriciated.... i need to figure out how to do the d-check.... thanks

  21. I think it was a brat with an ej20 from a wrx... i saw it too a long time ago
  22. that happened to my gl.... there were so many nests in there, because it sat in a field next to a horse stable... they also ate the air cleaner and had made a nice nest on top of the throttle body.... just ripped all the ducts out and washed them thoroughly.... it doesnt stink anymore...
  23. my friend has one on his cyclone... its a fast beast... hes pushin a bunch of boost too
