  1. Just an FYI, to make things easier, looks like the part you need is called the governor gear. Very common for those to fail on the 3AT. There's gotta be plenty of us on this side of the pond that can find you a good one.

P.S., I just pulled the part up on a dealership website, and its $375 for a new one. Doubt you wanna spend that. Hopefully someone has a good used one.

  2. Cams aren't that expensive. From the mouths of Delta cams themselves:

$93.50 ea. and $75.00 ea. core deposit, we have them on the shelf, 1000 grind for the torque grind or the 2000 grind for mid range and top end HP
  3. Start the car, if the CEL is on, no need to hook up any connectors. Look down and read the codes.

If the CEL is off when running, hook up the white connectors. This is to read past codes.

Green connectors are the test connectors. Refer to an FSM for the full test procedure.

  4. Oh please GD, don't pull the "Look at ma post count" b.s.

I say if you're just going to drive the vehicle to and fro' the store a few times a week, just get whatever. Carb, SPFI, etc, should all work fine. Performance isn't going to be an issue.

Plus, if your car won't start, just bum a ride from Jeffast (he's up in Laramie now at wyotech).

  5. Timing belts are not lined up to 0 TDC.

Rotate the flywheel, some distance to the left of the TDC marks are three little marks. They may be tough to see, grab a flashlight and some white out for when you do find them. You line it up to the middle of the three marks.

Once you line that up, driver's side cam gets lined up with the notch in the timing cover (or if you remove the covers like me, the seam for the valve cover).

Rotate the engine 360 degrees, lining up again to the center of the three marks. Line up the passenger's side cam with the notch in the timing cover. Driver's side should point down now.

Rotate the engine a couple times to double check everything is lined up.

Take a look at that. That came from miles fox's websites. That's what you line up to.
