  1. Do you make skid plates for the EJ 25? and any chance for the new pics you are telling me about? I think that if you posted pics it would help get some more interest!!!!!
  2. I had to look mine up. I paid $284 including shipping from the guy on ebay. Went smoothly, no complaints.
  3. I bought mine for my outback from him. No problems got them quick and shipped in original carton. Great Ebayer!!!!Super Price!!!
  4. Can you pump out the tranny fluid with a pump? I've seen people changing their oil like that. Does anyone have experience changing their tranny fluid that way??
  5. ok here's my order for 1 outback bumper with mounts for my round Hella Lights. Oh and a picture would be great when you get a chance. Actually it would be great if you would post some of the new pics you were talking about. People like to see what you've been up to
  6. Would anyone know where I could find a custom front bumper for my 97 Outback?? Or anyone who could fab one for me. I really like the looks of the one from Allied, but they aren't planning on making them anymore:eek:
  7. Bummer that is a sweet looking bumper for the 97 Outback
  8. I'm interested in the lift kit and a front bumper for my 97 outback from allied, and i'm wondering if mtnman's concerns would affect the outback kit. This is the first time I've attempted to raise my subie, since i'm already replacing the struts and springs it seemed like a good time to do it. Any feedback from the group would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:banana:

  10. Put me down for an Outback lift kit. How about the front bumper, are you going to make any more at a group buy price, or have a supply of any more?
  11. Fresh fluid??? what's that?? I hate to admit it but it was flushed at 90,000 miles to try to fix some minor torque bind and all I've done for the last 170,000 miles is check the fluid and top it off if needed. I guess I should change it too when I'm taking everything else apart:eek:
  12. The mechanic that originally put the engine in my car replaced the timing belt but neglected to do the seals. So I started out with a motor that had only 33,000 miles on it but had sat for 5 years in a wrecked Outback. I choose to go to a different mechanic when the car started leaking oil from the seals. I had all seals replaced except the rear seal, figuring I'd get that done when tranny finally went. Now a little over a year later I have an engine with close to 100,000 miles on it a timing belt with 60,000 on it and oil leaking out pretty badly in the front. I'm not sure exactly where it's coming from until I clean it up and get some dye and a black light. BTW the tranny is still plugging along at over 265,000 miles, so it isn't all bad. But I know it won't last forever P.S. Thank You for the timing belt info. It would seem silly to me not to replace it while i'm in there seeing that it is at 60,000 and has probably been bathed in oil.
  13. Well I took the car to him yesterday and tried not to be an rump roast but explained that he replaced all of the seals except the rear seal and they are leaking worse than they were before. He didn't seem to think that it was his responsibility since it had been a year even though they started to leak after 3-4 months. He basically told me to clean off the engine and put high mileage oil in it to see if that would swell the seals and help the leaking. He said there was no way to know where it was leaking from unless they cleaned off the motor, put a dye in the oil and used a black light to see where it was leaking. That alone would cost me $50-60. I have a portable black light and am fully capable of buying the dye, so I guess I can figure that out myself. Are the seals hard to replace? I'm planning on working on it myself, taking it off the road for a few weeks and doing the timing belt, struts, front control arm, and a few other things. I'm just not feeling that great about the mechanic right now and wondering if I can muddle through this myself, since I have another car I'm about to get on the road in a week.
  14. I have a 97 Outback with a 2.5 motor out of a 96 outback. The motor only has 100,000 miles on it but I have already had to replace the seals once, and now the are leaking again. The engine runs great so I need to fix them, but not sure why the old ones started leaking after only 3-4 months. Anyone have any experience with this?? I hate to keep throwing my money away on seals, and I'm wondering if my mechanic was incompetent or if it is just a subaru problem. Thanks Robert:Flame:
  15. Ok if anyone has some barely used legacy outback springs that will fit a 1997 outback give me a holler. My springs have over 260,000 on them and since i'm replacing the struts i figured it would be best to replace the springs too. I'm not interested in WRX springs because if anything I would like to raise my car not lower it. Thanks Mtnbob
  16. 1997 outback 2.5 auto 260,000 miles. i have a crack in my manifold, and figure I might as well replace it(been driving it like that for 40,000 miles). I see performance manifolds all over ebay and was wondering if they are ok, or i should stick with stock. They say they give more horsepower with a little more rumble coming out the back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. mtnbob
  17. I have a 1997 legacy outback wagon 2.5 auto 260,000 miles. I am getting new struts and would like to replace the springs. I can't seem to find springs that will raise or at least equal the oem springs. All the springs I see are to lower my vehicle. Will WRX Springs work? Any suggestions?
  18. hey i have the same exact car as yetidon and am planning on raising it. i can find the struts on ebay but don't see the springs anywhere. any suggestions would be great!!! 1997 Legacy Outback 2.5 256,000 miles and going strong!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. i went to that website but i don't see any springs listed for a 1997 outback. do you know what the model numbers are for the springs and struts?
  20. wow what a beauty!!! same color as mine and all!!! what size tires are you running and how is the ride? anything special you can tell me about the install?? thanks mtnbob
  21. thanks for the suggestions. i have tried contacting king in australia about the springs. the problem is they are not sure what chassis i have. they have different models down under.
  22. please excuse my ignorance, i have never replaced my struts before on my outback. are used struts easy to come by? do i want to put used struts on my car? what about scorpion springs? just trying to learn thanks mtnbob
  23. would my stock springs be good at 260,000+ miles or do they need to be replaced also. would i benefit from aftermarket springs?
  24. I have a 97 outback 2.5 auto that has 260,000 on the original struts and springs. I would like to replace them but want to know if stock is the way to go or if aftermarket ones will be better. If possible, getting a few inches of lift would be great too, since this is my backpacking vehicle. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning to do this myself, so i'm assuming that spring compressors are needed. Anything else? If anyone has suspension parts that would work, and they are willing to part with, offer away. Thanks mtnbob
