Legacy questions
So I have been toying with the idea of getting another subaru, after selling all of mine of corse. I have been looking mainly at gl wagons and I know those things are tough as nails and can take a lot of beating and run for many many miles. Well over 200k. But what about the Legacys, I am thinking early 90s 5 speed awd wagon. If taken care of how many miles can one expect to pull out of them? I know every one has there personal preference and I have always been a fan of the older wagons but just am wanting to get some input from people. Thanks

More Justy questions
So i have a questions about the justy 4x4 5 speed trannys. Are they a AWD like some of the GLs in the since of for the most part it as an AWD with an open center diff and then with a lockable center diff switch. Or like the shiftable type like the HI/LOW and push buttons, FWD most of the time then 4WD after switching. Or the last option, like all the subarus now, with a true AWD systems. thanks

Justy Questions
Ok so i have had some older GL wagon and I know that basicly they will last as long as you want to take of them. But I have never owned a justy. I know that they don't have the boxer motor and that it transverse mounted motor. But that's really I know about them. Who made the motor, tranny? I am assuming that it was taken from another car maker. The one I am looking at is a 92 with 112k on it and is an 5 speed AWD. Be complety honest about it. It's a good deal and it runs good, but I just want to know some of the in and outs of the Justys.

Possible to push-start 1990 Legacy AWD automatic?
mellow65 replied to Zack's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe only tranny I have ever heard you could push start was the old Ford FMX, and that was because it had a pump on the output shaft too.

Don't know if this is old news
So I remember reading somewhere that over in Australia they still have some D/R trannys that they put in some of there cars. So I hit Subarus website and sure enough look at what I found. Why is it we don't get cool crap like that. Ok I know why, no demand, but damn it that would be cool in an old legacy wagon or something. Oh well, well if someone every goes to Australia, bring me a tranny home will ya, thanks.

1989 GL sedan..5 speed d/r problem..
Mine would do this if you happen to hit to hard of ground, just had to find some looser stuff and it would come out, really sounds like a binding problem, jack the front or rear off the ground and see if you can shift it then.

Help with ea82t timing belt problem
Ok here's the story, I was driving along and then I had no power. Later to find out the left side timing belt chewed some teeth off, no biggy went to the parts store and got new left and right timing belt. Figured they never had been changed. I changed the belts and started it up and it ran like crap. Sounded like there was a big miss and wouldn't rev over 2500. So I took it back apart today and rechecked my marks, they were off. But the thing was I couldn't get them to line up. I set the cam and crank by the book, but the teeth didn't line up with the belt. According to the parts guy the timing belts are all the same. I'm thinking maybe there are different part #s for the turbo or not. Any input would help thanks.

Info needed about GL drive train
Well that gives me some food for thought. I think I will just look for a DR out of a nonturbo just for the better gearing. I found a turbo with LSD but I know that the gears are different between the two. Were there ever any LSD with 3.90 gears?

Info needed about GL drive train
Ok so I need some info about what is out there in the drive train stuff. I have a 87 gl turbo wagon with the push button 4x4 right now and was wanting to go to a DR tranny sometime in the future. But I read somewhere that there was some AWD DR with a center dif lock. What did these come in? What would you expect to pay for one in decent shape? And how are there reliability, I know the later legacys are good for thousands and thousands of miles with out any headaches just was wondering of they put the same effort in the older ones. Thanks
