  1. yea i red on here that they were plus the guy that assembled them for me said they woulsd be.
  2. well i didnt get the transwap done and thers a foot o' snow so ill just run the 3at till next spring..... my block does have a threaded bung(great word) so thats good. both heads had a tiny crack between the valves but they pressure tested good, so well see. i spent three days with a dremel cleaning up the intake and exhaust runners. i might have it running by the weekend. thanks again for the help.
  3. so is the pcv tube in the actual block just the oil return or what.. how does the whole thing work? air comes out the valve covers and into the intake? or out the block, into the intake and down the valve covers? i am so confused and i dont want to screw it up. the car smoked like crazy and i thought it was the turbo bearing seals beacuse there was always oil in the intake tube after the turbo.... i know too many questions at once. you guys's help is very helpful:D
  4. ea82t, 3at, how do i align the flexplate? i think i would turn the crank till #1 is at tdc compression, then put on flexplate so the timing marks line up on the housing. does that sound righ or does it even matter?
  5. it is a turbo... i am rebuilding it with the higher compression block from a carbed car.
  6. so i am putting a NA block into my ea82 turbo, and the block has no place for my pcv tube. The one right behind the knock sensor. I have tubes from both valve covers...is there somewhere else i can put it? does it HAVE to be in the block or can i put it in one of the cam towers or someting like that? or can i just leave that one off and use the two valve cover tubes only? I really appreciate all the advice you guys have....
  7. i feel your pain. mine just did the same thing except i drove it for like two weeks with it knocking obnoxiously before it actually quit...
  8. Thanks everybody... I havent been on here for a while, so.... I had the carb block rebuilt, and am having the t-heads done now... i havent changed my boost and dont plan on it really, so hopefully that wont be an issue. i dont really drive it hard any way. (much) i did, however, upgrade the exhaust and intake pipes and will be polishing and gasket matching my runners. THEN, when thats all done, i am putting a dual range 5sp in, also from the carbed car. so. my plate is pretty much full, hope to get it done before the snow falls....
  9. can i use my turbo heads with my carbed block? my turbo engine developed some pretty good knocks after i raced a baja bug up a mountain with no oil......so. I have a carbed EA82 parts car. the compression is 9.5, and the turbo is 7.7. will the bottom end handle the high compression with the turbo, or should I just rebuild the trubo block? is there a kit i can buy to beef up the bottom end? rods, bolts, head studs, etc?
  10. the piece between the turbo and the intake manifold. I replaced the stock piece with a mandrel bent homemade pipe. check out my gallery for a picture of it. the oil problem existed before i replaced it. i will check my pcv valve. thanx you guys
  11. it doesnt blow smoke unless i have been off the throttle for a while, like when I go down a long grade. Then, when I get back on the throttle, bluish/white smoke billows for a second or two, depending on how long I have been off it.
  12. 1987 gl10 turbo, um i have a thin coating or oil in my intake tube. i go through about a quart of oil every 500 miles or so. can i rebuild the turbo, or does anyone know what else I should do? this thing rips and i want it to continue ripping...
  13. well i think I have everything i need out of the 85 hopefully i will get it done this weekend
  14. i have a 87 gl10 wagon. i made a mandrel bent intake tube and downpipe to erplace the stock units and noticed a huge increase in power and throttle response. that is all i have done to the car so far, but it was major! oh also new plugs. also i cut the airbox up. oh and i replaced the teeny exhaust pipe with a 2 1/4 inch pipe and glasspack. still quiet, but better power. the turbo cant work right if it cant breathe. i will be putting a 5sp in mine this weekend. will post results.
  15. i have a 1987 gl-10 wagon with autmatic trans, electronic 4wheel drive. I want to put a five speed with manual high/low 4wheel out of a 1985 gl. theyre both EA82 so it should be cake, right? I am new at this so any help would be great! thanx
