  1. After searching for hours for a clue to what this part is, I decided to try uploading a pic and hoping someone could tell me what it is, and how it is to hooked up = / 1991 Loyale SPFI 5sp. Any help is appreciated.
  2. is there a difference in the flywheel between a turbo and spfi ea82's?
  3. Do those have complete vacuum hose diagrams and the like?
  4. fuel filter didnt help, still acting the same way.. runs fine at idle and just off idle, try to throttle it more than that almost kills it.
  5. thanks for replies, sorry for my sporadic posts, i have limited access to the car as it belongs to my brother. @GD, im getting 34, 35, and 51 = purge solenoid, egr solenoid and neutral switch always in on position, according to code list i found on here. I seem to have read that neither 34 or 35 matter as far as the engine is concerned, but for the neutral switch, my brother and i just put in a DR 5sp in place of his SR 5sp, not sure bout the switch placement. @RV ill try the fuel filter as soon as im done posting, since i have one and just havent put it in yet = / thanks again
  6. so yeah, it runs like a cold carbed motor with no choke, i searched all over forum unsuccessfully, maybe i dont get how it works. dont think theres any vacuum leaks, any help is appreciated.
  7. can anyone tell me what this is? i'm thinking its the sender for the 4wd light? thanks
  8. so uh dont know if anyones still interested but heres a shot of the engine compartment so far... hope ya likeys 8D
  9. i meant simple from where i am starting from as compared to doing mpfi with megasquirt. as for what i am waiting for, a guy i know to fill all the holes in my manifold for me and make me a adapter plate. has anyone done a carb on a dual port engine? i think its gonna rule.. jub
  10. well, first its actually a high compression block from a carbed parts car, ive done a bit of port smoothing, im gonna get torque cams form delta. it will be mostly off road, some street time. the reason i want the carb is for simplicity and less to try to fix if it breaks on me in the woods. also i like the super clean engine bay with very little accessories. plus it will be quite a while till i can get a ms system, if i do. i might just run the carb until i can get a ms, then redo it. i have a spare vehicle. i think mostly i want to see what i would get with a weber on a dual port high compression engine. no turbo equals less heat, which from reading on here seems to be the #1 killer of ea82s. it seems that everyone whos done webers has been mostly satisfied with performace and reliablity. i dont know. either way, i really enjoy "tinkering" with this car. its been my project for like 2 yrs. ive done so much to it already just for kicks. like cutting it in half and cutting off the top and cutting off the back and putting in a cage and taking out the dash and all the interior and building new bumpers and... etc:headbang: i do agree that carbs are ancient technology, but they are severely simple and easy to do. i would just use the stock computer and mpfi system, but i already lost the computer and harnesses and ALL the crap (sensors and switches and stuff) in the engine compartment. wow long post. jub
  11. so im doing the dual port mpfi intake on my ea82t minus the t, and i have a 2b weber. i cant decide whether to go with a megasquirt mpfi or put the weber on the manifold. before anyone :Flame: me, if i did the carb, i could have the thing running i like 2 days. if i mpfi, it has to wait until i can buy the ms controller and harness and sensors and such. im sure the ms would be way better than carb for power and mileage and runability. just want some opinions, info, etc... jub
  12. sweet thanks! i might just run whats there for a while, though. money being the main issue, as always. the carb is a 32/36 the exhaust is (i think) 2" headers y'd into 2.5" collector. probly do straight 2.5 with a small glasspack. yeah i will add some bracing to the cage when i get some more tube. when i did the x on top i thought about doing straight bars on the sides.
  13. oh great. ive got the 87 mpfi turbo cams on there now. it was great with the turbo. i guess my main goal for this car is mostly off road, low rpm/speed stuff, while still being able to pass people on the highway and go uphilss fine. the reason im taking the turbo off is because i dont want to be splashing water puddles on it, and when i put the radiator in the pare tire hole the turbo will heat up the radiator too much, i think, and plus theres just that much less to worry about when im driving it. just so everyone knows, this engine is in the "rat" pictured here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=84790 UPDATE: im doing a single weber two barrel instead of dual side draft. because its easier.
  14. does anyone know the specs for the turbo cams as com[ared to the na cams? i built a ea82 with the na bottom end and the turbo heads and cams, on a mpfi turbo engine, but im taking the turbo off and the mpfi and going to run dual side draft webers. so im wondering should i keep the turbo cams or run the na cams? any input will help. thanks.
  15. not sure if this is what you mean, but it used to be a wagon. sorry it has doors... no doors:-\
  16. thats the plan. oh and that is the turbo y pipe... uncompleted, anyways...
  17. the screws are for the 3"wide strip of sheet metal that fills the gap between the crossmembers. then theres seamsealer ontop of that. lets see... welds. under the door you can see a spot thats ground off-thats welded on both sides of the car(ill look for a pic), then the bracing underneath, then the cage is attached severely at the bottom of the front of the door(pic again)and on the wheel well and in the "bed" and up the windshield post and across. its pretty hardcore actually. ill find more pics.. and im glad that people seem to like it as much as i do:banana:
  18. wheel base is 72 inches exactly from hubcenter to hubcenter. not sure about width. turning radius=very tight, like one lane style... and yes it goes like crazy. with those tires and 8 inches of snow i was climbing stuff that had me scared of rolling without any traction problems. its seriously unreal.
  19. turbo=yes tailgate=no, welded on, might redo it later to open lift=maybe, not sure yet, leaning towards probably driveline=its done, 4wd works awesomely, just used the front piece-will get pics i want to go off roading with some other subarus sometime soon.
  20. so i got the doors and tailgate on and the cage finished. dont have pics of the cage yet but here are the doors and stuff... EDIT: cage pics and driveline and stuff added:) MORE PICS ADDED http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/bars.jpg some roll bars and body welds http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/KZ440010.jpg doors http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/KZ440009.jpg tailgate http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/Picture043.jpg crappy pic of cage http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/Picture045.jpg driveline http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/Picture049.jpg dirty underside http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/Picture046.jpg "subframe connector" http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/jubnub1/ratconcept.jpg original concept pic :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: ... :-\
