at what speed is a subaru 2.5L with an auto most efficient?

whats the deal....every time i compare a car to a subaru the subaru fals short....why are they so slow....im not talking the sti or anything im talking legacys.....1995-2005....why are they so slow.....today in my 1997 gt (2.5L auto) i was racing a civic (2007) on the highway and he was outrunning me....i was kind of appaulled.....ive got 165hp....with an air intake im thining around 170hp and hes got 140hp.....there is just under a 300 pound weight difference......i dont get it! A CIVIC FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

what rpm should the engine be at at 100kmh or 60mph? (2.5, auto, GT)

its up where the speakers are.......if it is for an amp.....does tat mean i can easily add a sub.....its a simple 2 prong plug

hey everyone there is a random plug in the center of my trunk at the top, its right in the middle of the car attached to the body not the trunk lid.....anyone know what this is......i drive a 97 legacy gt.....the wire for the plug comes from where the speaker wire is run....but most of the wires run from there including the tail lights

doe anyone know any websites that give you instructions on how to replace the speakers in a 1997 legacy gt? thanks for your help

if you do not like the way things are being discussed with this thread or this forum no one is asking you to participate....you do not need to continue posting negative remarks if you dont like the way I or anyone else goes about doing things.....by the way i did do my research I just wanted to know if there are any tricks or if anyone has had this problem before and it could be an unrelated issue.....so please if you dont like the way things are going no one is asking you to stay.

maybe we should give Manarius a medal he seems to be the all knowing guru of Subaru that cant be bothered by the little guy....such as myself.....oh forgive me oh great one for asking for help.....all i wanted was to learn. I'm sorry if that disturbs you so much. Forgive me oh great one. Oh and i checked out everything and my engine and everything is fine everyone all my sensors work great. Its actually my gas guage only reading 2/3 of my tank. If anyone has heard of this problem before please share your info. For Manarius please ignore this message.

thanks everyone for your input i find it very valuable nd i respect that you are here to help i tried back probing the sensor and failed so im going to take it to my mechanic and if he cant find it im taking to to subaru

how do you backprobe an o2 sensor.....do i disconnect the sensor and stick the probing wires in the back? if so which wires do i put the probe wires on?

but i think its working fine because when i first turn on the engine when its cols my idle is 1200rpm but when it warms up it goes down to 650rpm wouldnt that mean its working?

where is the 2 wire one located and could all this really cause me to get bad gas milage?

i have a 97 so i guess it doesnt apply

i just got my head gaskets replaced and the temp sensors were working fine telling me my engine was over heating. now everything is running great in that respect

where is this sensor for the temp?

ok i went out ot part source and called subaru and a bosch ( i know some of you guys said they were crap) sensor was 139 bucks and i called subaru and it was 260 dollars for a genuine part....thats a bit steep....this is in canadian dollars but we arent that far off from the american dollar anymore.....i just want to make sure that it is the o2 sensor before i buy anything.....im getting about 400kms per tank about 240 miles....there is soot in my tail pipe and i added fuel additive and there is no difference.....so im assuming right in thinking its the o2 sensor?

what is pb blaster and is the first o2 sensor a 3 plug or 4 plug?

is the sensor easy to get at?

ok, i bought a fuel additive that is supposed to clean the injectors, valves, fuel line, pumps etc. so if nothing changes it has to be the oxygen sensor. If it is the oxygen sensor would it be the very expensive mass air flow sensor or is it another sensor?

im also thinking of putting a fuel additive in to clean out the fuel system i have a suspicion my fuel guage isnt working properly....i fill it from practically empty and i can only put 10 gallons in instead of 15
