  1. I get better a better MPG average when my car is filled with stuff....i drove my gf home whihc is 2.5 hours awat about 225kms....i averaged 27mpg with the call filled to the brim with all her stuff....and i mean full.....and on the way back on the same highway and same driving conditions just without any extra weight.....i got 24 mpg average...... can anyone say.....weird BIG BLUE
  2. its an auto transmission....one idler was replaced i think and the waterpump was checked and they said it looked good and they suspect it was replaced before
  3. i just got all the gaskets replaced and the timing belt replaced about 6 months ago and there are about 166000 miles on the engine
  4. if it was something like a bearing or the tension being too tight with my ACC belt would that help explain my averaging/struggling to get 20mpg? (other thread)
  5. legacy gt auto 2.5 After reaching and serpassing certain rpms 3500+ there is a wine from my engine.....sounds like a turbo....and its pretty loud. Wat could this be?
  6. hmmm yeah maybe there is extra resistance from the tranny or something.
  7. fopr the last 5 tanks ive waited for the fuel light to come on....and everytime....andusing the same pump at my local gas station ive filled up 51 liters of fuel within .5 of a liter....the light is pretty accurate by my standards...i 've made sure to use the same pump since everyone seems to make it a big deal to...so i took everything into consideration and at best im getting 20mpg according to how far i drive with using 51 liters of fuel everytime....and i dont overpump since the manual says not to.
  8. I drive on the QEW the opposite way of traffic.....i go to school in oakville so all the traffic is going the other way....its just straight cruising
  9. I am not a heavy driver and I was really trying hard to get the best fuel economy out of my car on my last tank....trying not to go over or too far over 2000rpm when accelerating in the city and and not going over 3000rpm when accelerating on the highway. The car is a automatic...the tire pressure is at 32psi and they are just your standard run of the mill all season tires....they are the proper size for the car, 205,16,55... I dont know when the fuel filter was changed, ive only owned the car for 8 months and have put 12500 miles on it. How do i check the fuel filter? As for a vac guage I wouldnt know where to find one or how to test for a proper vacuum
  10. The entire system was flushed cause i had some solenoid switches that needed replacing....im not a heavy driver....more towards the easy driver side...and my tires are equally inflated.....all my fluid levels are ok and i try to check them every week along with my tire pressure every week.
  11. Its been 2-3 months since ive had my tranny fluid changed and already the fluid smells terrible. its a auto with 260,000kms or 165,000miles(about). 97 legact gt 2.5
  12. hey guys when the gas light comes on at 51 liters (13.15 gallons)left in the tank ive only gone 425kms (265 miles) meaning im getting 20 miles per gallon....thats doing 80% highway driving and not going over 60-65mph....i struggled to get it to go that for on that tank.....I've replaced the first oxygen sensor and checked my knock sensor and it was fine...it was quite rusted though and the rubber only was cracked......i havent replaced the second oxygen sensor and I had my mechanice look at the MAF sensor and he said it was clean and working properly....the car is throwing no codes. Ami missing something here?...the air filter is clean and the oil was just changed. 97 legacy gt 2.5 sedan
  13. Hey everyone....i have a 97 gt 2.5 ive heard people drilling holes in their airbox to get more airflow but they said the manifold is only 1 inch wide wo it defieats the purpose....the thing is the cars they were debating over were carb models 89's 90's 91's etc....but mine is fuel injected.....would it have a larger throttle body hole?....the air tube seems to be larger as well......so if i were to drill holes into my airbox would i see an improvement or basically no improvement like the early 90's carb models... Also the hole in the airbox for the air to come in is smaller than the tube that goes to the second airbox before the throttlebody.... Thanks
  14. hey everyone check this out i think this is a must have for the avid car enthusiast! http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/8426/
  15. meh i think the rpms shoot up a bit quicker with this filter...it was actually a birthday present im happy with it...i still have to check that knock sensor to see if its cracked
  16. hey everyone, i have a 97 legacy gt 2.5 4at.....when im cruising on the highway and the car gets to around 3000-3500rpm....the engine gets really loud then it goes quiet again.....what does that mean....knock sensor?
  17. in snow just above ground clearnace hieght a wrx moving at city speeds would just float on the snow where a OBW would sink......i've driven past civics in my minivan and they cant move but im just plowing......they just float on the snow where bigger vehicles sink and dog down to the pavement.
  18. what would the difference in fuel economy be between a good and bad knock sensor?
  19. the only thing i havent replaced is the knock sensor......are there any signs where you can tell you need a new one?
