  1. OK found this thread -will check out some ideas mentioned there- http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40977&highlight=starting+problem
  2. Got a wierd one thats hard to find because it is erratic. Most the time it happens first time the car is started for the day.Turn the key -nothing no click, the doors lock and the dummy lights come on -but no noise from the engine compartment.Try again after turning off and sometimes will then start, other times have to turn the key on and off 2-6 times, So far it has started every time ,but I think I've been lucky so far.The other odd thing is that the problem will sometimes dissappear for a couple days. It does not seem to be moisture related as we are very dry here. Might be heat related ,it has been hot. After starting car runs normal.Any ideas out there?
  3. Wife drives a 97 outback legacy and I just picked up a 2000 L Impreza wagon. The Impreza is really fun to drive compared to the legacy. You hear a little more rear end noise in the imprezza -but it handles much better-more like a sports car ,you can throw it around corners. Legacy has the advantage of more room in both back and rear seats.I have found the Impreza is big enough to throw a moped in the back. I dont really notice that the 2,2 in the imprezza is slower than the 2,5 in the legacy-in fact with the lightness of the impreza it might be a tad quicker, the brakes are great in the Impreza. On long trips the legacy has a bit more of a comfort factor. If I could only have 1 , I'd go for the Impreza. No hill holder.Best milage I've gotten in the Impreza is 32 mpg on a interstate trip going about 75 mph.In town driving milage is not too different between the cars. It's all about the FUN factor .
  4. This guy had a 93 impreza on ebay for parting out last month click on the box to the right contact member from this link -good luck Jim http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=henhudwrestler&item=-1&frompage=222
  5. Contact junkyard gabe think he'll have taillight and glass for you
  6. Im in Ithaca ny ,have garage , tools and lots of subies.Driving a 97 obwagon and a 93 imp wagon.Parts cars 89wagon 4x4 and 87 4dr 4x4 so have lots of parts Jim
  7. I have a friend with a 2000 legacy that dropped by today to ask about a noise in the front end.when going straight ahead no noise, when turning at about 15 miles per hr or more to right or left there is a whoop ,whoop noise that kind of sound like something rubbing on the backing plate for the brakes .There is no change in the noise when brakes are applyied when turning so I dont think it is brake related.Any ideas on what this is and what to do about it .?Thanks Jim
  8. Are you sure its blue?Black smoke for a short bit would just indicate running rich which is normal on start up.Blue does sound like valve seale, but if its only a short while I'd let it ride till it lasts for a couple mins.
  9. Auto zone or the like have matching spray colors if you know your paint code and color name. I've painted lots of older cars with texurized rubber undercoat paint[ black ] from the door guards down, looks ok,but not as nice as original .
  10. Dont some of the newer cars have wear sensorsthat make noise?Describe the noise to us that helps.
  11. I agree with Shawn, just keep changing oil regularly and use a detergent oil.
  12. the screw is the ground on these, just change switch plug in wire and you got light. If it seems broken has probably lost ground abilities.
