  1. NO No No and...NO! exhaust bolting right up. no ecu...no wiring harness...no. go to a junk yard and get a used 2.2L with a broke timing belt and do alittle work and spend about 200 bucks. JMO
  2. You can make your own rad flush system with 2 5 gallon buckets, hoses and atachmenets the one with new fluid just needs to be set up high so gravity fills system and water pump pumps out old into other bucket. by the time you run 3 gallons through it you should be good. ours costed less than 30 bucks to make, a little cauching and a couple threadd plastic plumbing pieces to attach hose to bucket and shut off valves with rad hose attachments at auto zone.... pretty simple. I drain and fill my trans about every 3rd oil change and will continue to do so...
  3. Sorry for the absence I've been working alot. 11,000 miles on my 96 2.2L AWD came with a 2.5L still don't know if the trans were the same but it runs like a ***************! WOO HOO! 4 oil changes with 10w30 whatever Auto Zone has on sale oil with Lucas heavy Duty Oil stabalizer and 1 extra trans change with the Lucas and the GM limited slip rear end oil Earl Duff Subaru sold me but she gets 24.6 mpg and i'm running the Ice Cold Air on High the whole time delivering pizza's and mail out of it daily! I've found these Michelin tires to my liking. I got them used at Earl Duff for a hundred bucks and I've yet to hear a squeel....damn sure aint no wheel spin. i forgot what it was like after having my gl-10 turbo wagon!...which wasn't see past post.... I've just got to say that Subaru does build the most functional, easy to work on,simple, dependable, able to carry an extra alt, batt. cables, plugs, fuel fiter, oil and filter...don't forget the filter is exposed and a spare has always been a must for me. Cables, 256 pc. craftsman tool set the fits in under the back where the tire is...once again WOO HOO....still flat in the back! Golf clubs, extra battery just mostly for the boat. but it's always full charged. and a blanket..I do not fear being stuck,,,sure as i say this I will. Anyway I've gotten lots of help and entertainment here and nipper i envy your gauge cluster:headbang: JOF
  4. Big Little Dog! Tell us how you really feel! Sure enough.. If the car gets your kid to and from school and the room for all the laundry he/she brings with em when they come home I"m all for it. Don't let anyone tell you how you should do things. I learned strait off when I joined here that some folks are GO TO SUBARU AND PAY WHATEVER IT TAKES...AFTER MARKET SUCKS! even though it has lifetime warranty and costs half or less that OEM. But hey to each their own..I'm a boneyard/autozone guy myself.
  5. A little rust around rear couter panles and a new front cv axle is a must on drivers side. Oil change, timing belt, rad hoses, heater hoses, water pump, 4 speed manual trans oil change, tires, and wiper blades I should be ready for the highway! $650. plus parts and taxes. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!
  6. I have found an 84 brat with 123,000 miles sitting in a barn. Dude wants a grand for it. Said if the battery was charged I could drive it home... So....I'm off to investigate... check back later and fill you in!
  7. Give it hell! Blow it up! Put in a 2.2L and give it hell and don't blow it up!
  8. wedge a screwdriver in flywheel put aI believe 7/8 socket 1/2 inch drive long pipe and it's easy!
  9. cupping is almost always caused by loss of contact with road which is normally attributed to shock/strut malfunction!
  10. why not just buy a 2.2l for 300 bucks and set it down and go 100,000 or more? MUCH EASIER TO WORK ON TOO!
  11. Just a thought...Did you blead cooling system? After HG replacement refill? Was it full to begin with before over heating started? You could glass the motor if you want to drive it while you find and build a 2.2L.. Go get liquid glass at Auto Zone and with coolant system empty! Get the motor HOT..add glass with the bleeder cap off of radiator and pour in glass then water till you get flow showing. Put cap on let it run and get hot over normal operating temp and shut her down. After letting it set top off with anti freeze.. I've seen motors run better and for a long time after doing this! 20 buck fix..leaves engine with no life after death.. pretty much unrebuildable.
  12. In no way am i knocking your job...But if i were to ever install gauges in mine. It would be exactly like Nippers! By far the cleanest and most important informaion needed guages I've seen.
  13. I can't believe i'm just now telling you this! 865-482-5166 G&L salvage yard..where i got my parts car.. They have 3 more 2.2L in cars dude said he would take 100 buckss for em each...2 of them i know have broke timing belts... worth looking into! JOF
  14. As the proud owner/operator of a '95 2.2 I can assure you--it's one fine hunk of aluminum. My name is Eric Oakes and I support this message!
  15. the parts car.... I found today a receipt for 1300 dollars from Subaru dealership in nebraska replaced trans only 40,000 ago! Yippee! Also got a cool wiring system for a 12v convert system that was installed on wrecked car.. Get this It had 2 batteries which were stored under back seat and are small batteries but still a munch larger storage capacity and would brobably run a T.V. or video game system which would be cool when I'm sleeping in the back of mine at Florence and Eldora 2 days till the Dream! I can't wait! Party on and see some awesome racing! JOF
  16. T boned...passenger side...only broke rear door glass and the impact didn't make it to drive train that I can tell. So I've got lenses, tires michelin 70 percent tread, wheels, brakes, axles, drive line, bumpers(same color) dash acc.,lights, rear door shocks, hood shocks, speakers, seats, spair tire, extra jack, some funky loking 10mm,12mm,flat and phillips screwdrivers that slide out and turn around to change good quality though....glass,mounts,sensors,exhaust...way better shape than mine!,and a 2.5l motor if anyone wants the "POS" 2.2L all the way...them 2.5's are junk as far as I'm concerned..the switchover is way too easy and the haedaches far less and far less often. so there it is..pretty much a parts store in the barn!
