  1. When I googled this topic I got one result that made any sense at all. It was at just answers.com by an auto tech by the name of Mike V. He said that after 18 hours of trying to isolate this very problem he found an open clip under the drivers seat intended to power up low tire pressure sensors. But the 06 outback doesn't have that feature so it is just an open clip. When it gets corroded it sends funny signals back to the integrated control module. To fix this he suggests clipping the green wire with a yellow stripe on it. Sound crazy? I did it it worked. My blinkers no longer work with out the key in the ignition and there is no more ACC flashing on my clock display. Thank you Mike V at just answers.com!
  2. Hey , The clock is in the center of the dash with the thermometer and MPG display. Came out of the store today to see that my blinker was still going. Keys were in my pocket!! Wierd? Very. Called the Sudaru experts I got it from. They said its rare and they'll have to hook it up to the big diagnostic computer to be sure but, most likely the whole computer will have to be replaced. 600$ part two hours of labor. Tried unhooking the battery to see if that changed it. When I hooked it back up, the trunk wouldn't unlock with the in car unlock switches. Only with the trunk button on my keyless entry remote. How's that for wierd? Trev. Nothing in the owners manual about this.
  3. I've searched the archives to no avail. I can't imagine I'm the only owner of an 06 outback who ever had his dash clock flash ACC and at times, ERR. Anybody have ideas on this? Thanks- T
  4. Maybe This is typical but when I start my 2006 Subaru outback, the driver's-side fan on the radiator turns on and off over and over again when the engine is dead cold. When I am stopped or idling it turns on for three or four seconds repeatedly. Typical or atypical?
  5. All ive Done so far is empty the overflow tank and refill with clean fluid. I used purple power to clean the tank and it was sparkling white so I have a good basis from which to observe. I'll watch it for a month and see what happens before I flush the entire system.
  6. Waveyaker, Were there bubbles present in the overflow tank? The dark matter in my overflow looked like little tiny particles and did not feel greasy when i cleaned it yesterday. Im gonna watch it closely.
  7. I bought a 2006 outback sohc in march and they did the HG's etc. Knowing the animal, i look in tje overflow tank regularly and recently noticed the oil line starting in the tank. They said just clean the tank out and refill it. There are no bubbles in the tank when at temp. The question is can oil get in the coolant if there isn't a big problem in the engine? And. Should i worry about this? Ive put about 6000 miles on it. Bought it at 94000 miles.
  8. The drive shaft is firm at the rear diff connection. At the support bearing its very squashy and easily move able. At the tranny connection I can feel play up and down and side to side as well as front to back.
  9. I'm really telling what I know. I used the term evenly in my second post to describe that the bounce was not from the rear or front. I asked you to describe these things because my word " bounce" wasn't getting my point across and I needed a new word. It feels to me like the carrier bearing is worn and the whole Drive line is slightly bouncing. I would love to know what words would describe that feeling. Thanks for help. Looks like its a not a super easy common thing and a pro should see it. I figured if we're a real easy thing a real easy answer would fall out. Thanks for your time!

  11. How would you describe the feeling associated with a loose driveline or bad rear differential?
  12. It bounces enough to make pant leg shake about. It will happen cold or Warm. I'm experimenting to see if it happens with the heater/ ac off to help isolate its origin. Could a bad rear differential cause this?
  13. Ok. It bounces evenly 35 mph and above going straight. Other times over the same stretch of road it rides flawlessly. One of the wheels has a whole pile of balancing weights on it but the tires are equally worn. I don't have a lot of history on the car as I just got it used but from a reputable Used Subaru place. They did a lot- hg's and all associated parts when I bought it before I picked it up. It so random,I'm reluctant to call it to their attention. The steering also has a random shutter. If I stop and put it in reverse and spine the wheel quickly it will get very hard to turn for a second and then to go a pulsey/ shuttery feeling. Maybe they're related. I'm hunching the driveline is making me bounce at random.
  14. At first I thought it was the spring roads. I'm realizing now that there is no obvious pattern in why it happens. The whole car is shimmying up and down or bouncing at random. It has 94000 miles on it and ive had it for under two months. And no hydraulics are present in my suspension:). It would drive anybody batty! Have any experts experienced this? Thanks, trev
  15. Wow, yeah. I completely forgot about that extra wear on the tranny. good call, i will consider this.
  16. Hey Folks A 2007 limited outback. black with blackleather interior. 115000 miles cost $12000. Problems that i see: 55% worn rear tires and 3 dings in the doors. presumebly from other doors. headlights need polishing. Some paint dings on hood. seem like the right price?
  17. The oil pressure switch/sender was leaking from the copper pin on the top. Not around the threads. Got one at NAPA that looks different than the Subaru one but threaded right in and seems to work. THanks, folks!!
  18. Replaced pressure sensor and forgot what it was called. Sorry for the confusion. There is no question it is leaking again after being replacing about a year ago. Did the separator plate etc. HG"S etc. 12000 miles ago and right valve cover still weeps a bit. Is this an part that must be Subaru or else? 98 legacy outback 2.5
  19. It Must the the oil pressure sensor!! Under the alternator. Def not power steering pump leak. Not leaking from the threads---leaking through sensor out the top of it. Dripping down front and rear of block.
  20. Just replaced engine temp sensor a year ago because the original one was leaking. The new one is now leaking worse than the old one ever did. What gives? I apologize if this has been covered.. I did search the aRchives to no avail. Thanks.
  21. Update== I did replace that vent solenoid and about 100 miles later, all of my alert lights on my scantool stopped blinking and I've had a green light ever since. No evap, cat, or O2 alerts!
