  1. Ok heres my 2 cents on seafoam Ive been thinking about doing the same thing but heres the deal Seafoam works plane and simple works great. My brother has a 1977 dodge power wagon full time 4wd x military truck 1 ton its a beast. It was alittle sluggish and he added seafoam to his carb just poured it down the intake and kept on the gas. Enough smoke to kill all the mosquitos. Was kickin crud out the tail pipe. Ran like a top fule . You could cherp the tires. Its that good. Heres the problem though. The stuff in sea foam gets hot thats y it works so good it cleans out all the stuff with heat and chemical. If you put it in the crankcase and youve already got leaks more then likely ur gonna get them again. I could recoment starting with the gastank then into the intake however you do it. Id save the oil for last because thats whats gonna really get you. I havent gotten any yet but as soon as i can make it to the parts store im gonna pick it up and at least put it into the tank. Just be sure to read the directions very well ben
  2. BTW i wasnt calling any one here freaks or a cult. Folks here are passionate how about that. Thats a better word. I know im not going to win any rally races with this engine. I know im not gonna win any offroading championship with the hight it has. It can be something i know that. Just frustrated with something ive never seen before. I mean even a volvo didnt look this complicated. Also my muffler has gutted itself out and to me it sounds like a new wrx lol. IM not giving up. Maybe someone can give me a spare engine so i can try to figure out these things. Ben and Guido
  3. Ive been on this websight for a few weeks now. Ive watched all you talk about your cars, diagnose your cars, talk about meet and greats. Ive got to get a couple things off my chest and i promise i will be nice. Wow i cant believe these vehicles. I have personally in my 27 years of life owned 100 cars. All shapes sizes and walks of life. I have never ever seen a cult following like the one here with these vehicles. I mean you guys know these vehicles inside and out. Ive worked on many american made vehicles and can diagnose them pretty well. You folks are talking about things i have no idea about. In order to change brakes you need to twist the piston not just push it in. Wow. Automatic transmission fluid for power steering fluid. Wow and again not to make anyone mad but these older vehicles really dont seem to be worth much. And you guys are liftin them to the skys and slamin them to the ground. If the engine craps out. No worries mate got another one in the boot. Body rusts out. No problem Ill transfer all the good parts to the spare car behind the shed. Keep the coil as a spare. Y your buying a brand new coil to replace the broken original right. Engine leaks. Forget it all subaru engines leak, Want new shoks sure put on used ones from 2 different years and 4 different cars. It will work. Everyone has a chevy or a ford but y a subaru. It seems to me and again dont hate me. Thats its easier and maybe cheeper to just lift a chevy truck and call it good. Or if u want a wagon throw a celebirty wagon body on a s10 chassy. I mean i am truly blown away. I dont remember his name but he didnt have any spark in his ignition and 5 pages later of everyone helping him out it finally works. These cars are truly quirky and to be honest im kinda scared and alittle worried about buying mine. I dont have time to diagnose 40 problems in a vehicle i am poor have a very limited budget. I had to beg to get the money to buy this. The only comfort i have is that if something does go wrong all of you can help me diagnose it. And McBrat is in the same town as me.   4. Have you ever done a dual exhaust on a subaru someone told me that it would mess up the backpressure. eliminate the y pipe run 2 pipes with 2 mufflers only. ben
  5. well again i was just looking to purchace new stuff only because i know the struts are blown. I do the uncle buck down the road. im really just looking for new stuff not extremely expensive but if i could lower it a bit in the process improve the handling then ill do it ben
  6. ok 2 questions y is that on these cars you can never seem to buy anything for the rear. and the other is i read in a thread somewhere that when u knock a coil down on these cars the rear becomes extremely squirly ben

Front: 2002 LGT - Legacy GT Rear: 2005 LGT - Legacy GT Swaybars - 20mm - 89 XT6 so i can buy new coilovers for a xt6 and it would work without any modifications or i would need the coilovers from a 2002 legacy gt for the front and 2005 legacy gt for the rear and thats the only way it would work thanks ben

  11. uhhh didnt call anyone any name L7 weenee was saying that it was alittle lame that the name got changed but wasnt calling anyone a name im just gonna shut up now and just ask questions because ive obviously hit a thread that doesnt alow partial language preverbs and people who take things way to seriously. I hardly know anyone in this thread or anything about these cars. Try to joke around and make people laugh and the only thing i seem to accomplish is making people upset so im gonna just shutup with the jokes and ask questions ok:clap:

  13. my brother was so dumb he had this car before me he was like i half to turn on my brights because i can hardly see. I look at it hes had a headlight out for 3 years and to top it off they are the original headlights so i replaced the driving lights iwth sylvania silverstars. can you put the gl corner lights on a dl mine are cracked ben
  14. omg guys and gals i was just kidding, no one and i mean no one has said anything bad about my car. you folks havent seen it. im just foolin around. i like to write silly things, its kinda funny to me because i see nothing about dls and everything is gls. im just funnin around. as far as basic mechanics go there the same vehicle just dont have power options and dual range trannys ben:banana:
  15. After talking to everyone about my leaky valve covers i thought id ask everyone here what are the little quirks of these vehicles. Someone just informed me that silly me im not suspost to put power stearing fluit in the power steering reseavour cuz that would be silly,
  16. so lets say when bought it it had a power stearing whine and since im so mechanically inclined (after all one car is the same as the next right) i just happened to have some power steering fluid lying arund and i threw it in there. Whining stoped and stears fine. Been fine for 200 miles.
  17. what is the resoner for becauset thats what i think i have and i think the cat has the heat shield loose can i remove this without the suby not needing it ben
  18. although this engine lookes like cake to remove im not going to do that unless ts absoulutely necessary. its my daily work driver. good and bad is the clutch and timeing belts hve been changed within the past 1000 miles so i have no reason to pull the engine unless it grenades on me.
  19. First off my dl rocks. dont need all that glam gl sh*t lol Anyways new to subys took a look under my wagon today. Holy sh$t weird looking (usually works on small block chevys) anyways it looks like it drove a oil spill. It apears to be leaking from the valve cover gaskets and the oil pan gasket. Now again im new to subarus so i have no idea how hard it is to change these out. I was tempeted to use that seafoam stuff on the crankcase but after seeing that im afraid of turning a small leak into a huge one. Not that this is my biggest concern but i like keeping matienced vehicles. Also if i were to get some aftermarked gauges so i can monitor engine temps what would be a good one and are they relatively simple to hook up on a fuel injected vehicle. And finally this is not a high performance vehicle but what the hell is up with the 2 catalytic converters. Can i get rid of one, can i run a modified dual exhaust setup or will that kill the backrpressure on my vehicle. again i just like messin with cars not lookin to be ultra cool just maybe try to squeeze more then 88 ponys out of this thing Quote Maddog you are goinna take the shortcut to the interstate right.   20. I knew i was gonna regret that typeo. I ment just a taller rim with a wider tire and a wider rim. now those struts that you got were they off a used subaru. i was thinking like a spring strut kit like monroe makes. where did you get the items for ur 5 lug swap. and what all do you need. also what size tire and rim are the wrx wheels. ben

Im new at subarus. im pretty sure mine is a ea82 i have a 1988 subaru dl wagon with 4wd. when you talk about switching to 5 lug are u talking the entire fromt suspension and rear axle. how is that cheep guys lol. i was looking for something more like rally raceing set up. no huge lift just something i can run taller and wider tires for better grip. But yea looking for spring - shock ideas. maybe (maybe) in the future do an impreza drive train swap but for now just tryin to kep it simple and cheep. i wouldnt even knwo where to get impreza or legacy parts. ben
