  2. Once you push the buttom for the rear defogger it stays on for set time before turning off, it is in the wiring diagram but i do not know its location. Joe
  3. I also hav a P/S pump for a ea82 located in WA, if you need it let me know. Joe
  4. I did the search earlier and it did not help, I have found 4 relays in a line above the fuse box,and I have a empty socket near the fuse block that looks like a relay may go there. A new question I have is where is the rear defogger timer located at? Joe
  5. baccaruda- where is spovegas,wa? I am thinking of ditching the power steering and AC, I do not need either one and I have found a donor vehicle for the manual steering, and alt.brackets for a non a/c, p/s car, I would save a tiny bit of weight and HP, not much though plus it would be easier to work on the engine. Joe
  6. I almost had my weber installed and the electric choke hits the back of the power steering, anyone have this problem before? Joe
  7. What is the normal range for compression? On my 87 wagon I have 125# I have read that if the cylinders are within 10% of each other not to worry as compression varies from car to car. I know 1 head gasket is blown. Joe
  8. I am in the process of replaceing my friends head gasket and before I started I did a compression test on the other head and it has 75# in both cylinders 2&4. So I am assuming the compression should be around 125# and that this other head gasket is also bad, correct? Joe
  9. I do not know if any of you have tried this or if it works on subarus but on my explorer I have removed both the front and rear sway bars and it increased my articulation by a couple of inchs on both ends, it took alittle while to get to use to the lean on corners. Joe
  10. So how did the day go? great for the first 20 minutes, then a blown head gasket ( can you say hydrolock ) ended the day early, My friend decided to run straight through the middle of the puddle and that was it. I think a snorkle would be order, needles to say now I am replacing a head gasket this weekend. Here is a link to the video http://madproject.com/vcontroller.php?id=86 Joe
  11. I will be away from the computer toady so if any ones to come along, leave a post here and meet at the belfair safeway at 10:30 Joe
  12. If zapar does not want then I will buy it. Joe
  13. What are the gears in the diff? and how much? I am a certified welder at the job. There is a company (http://www.offroadlockers.com/index.html)that is coming out with a line of auto lockers, I am waitng for one or two for my explorer I have sent them a line and see they want to make one for the subaru. FYI (everybody) this "autolocker" is locked all the time, but it will allow one wheel to go/spin faster, but not slower, cost is $200 Joe
  14. Don't froget it was named after a locomotive in the early days "T9O" I was goofing off when I got high centered, I was watching my tires to see how they spun and how the diff. worked, so I was not watching where I was going backwards. I have found that with my explorer that has fords trac-lok (aka posi/limited slip) that when the wheels start to spin out, I can get into 4LO and put my brakes on and power brake myself out of some places, what this does is help equalize the power go to all the wheels because none of the tires will spin. This is what I was doing when I got stuck. Joe
  15. Rooinater- who is the manufactor of that locker? How much? Joe
  16. My friend has a nearly stock 88 5spd D/R hatch, he has a stainless steel exhaust. We went out a few weeks ago and he could go everywhere I took my explorer. When it gets closer to the 4th we will see what is going on. Joe
  17. A locker would be nice or at least limited slip, I will have to put that on my list.
  18. A buddy and a I are going to tahuya on Dec 26 if anyone else is interested let me know and we can meet up. Tahuya is near belfair washington. I will be taking my explorer as my subaru is not ready yet and my friend will have his 88 hatch. Joe
  19. I want to thank everyone that has gave me input in this thread. Joe
  20. snotrocket- I found one of the vacuum lines that go to the secondaries on the carb was on wrong, once I connected the line top the right port on the carb the engine started to respond how it should. So the engine is running fine but I still have the funny vacuum reading. Joe
  21. So if the intake valve is sticking open or maybe the valve guides are worn, how much should I expect to pay to have the heads reworked. Joe
