  1. Seriously? You just suggested that Gore actually uses sound scientific data when drawing conclusions? He is one of the biggest hypocritical “I’m in it for fame because no cares about me otherwise” morons there has even been.
  2. So what's the difference between the EJ255 and the EJ257? Same bore, same stroke right? Sounds like you can get the EJ255 in 210hp, 230hp or 250hp and the EJ257 in 300hp. Could it be that the EJ255 was just tuned differently and the EJ257 actually has a different turbo? Edit: Nevermind, it looks like the EJ257 has a lower compression ratio. So is that in the heads or a taller deck?
  3. June, not sure of the build date though. I know it has the stinky clutch which was fixed in later 05 models.
  4. I spend plenty of time tooling around in the Co mountains and have never had an issue. I make sure to get my money’s worth out of my turbo so if it was a boost issue I would have found it! I have managed to find some pretty steep hills out here too. Done them in traffic and at well above the speed limit.
  5. It's not an over steer issue, I’m talking while traveling straight on ice that’s slicker than greased whale ************. It feels more like the rear tires are fighting each other so when one tire gets more traction it pushes a little until it's going straight, then the other tire is that much more out of alignment with the direction of travel so it pushes back. Thus the wagging affect. There is significant under steer on dry roads, I’m attributing that more to the AWD and the lame tires the factory put on. The toe may very well be affecting it though. I wouldn’t do the adjustments myself, I would spec out new nominal’s for the alignment guy. I’ll do the alignment on my Jeep but it turns out big squishy tires on a flexy soft suspension are a lot less sensitive to subtle changes.
  6. So if you read my last post you know my factory units went out at 24k, having always owned trucks I'm somewhat new to the car tire world. I've done a bit of research and can't seem to find much substance on the manufactures websites. They all pretty much make every tire out there sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread. I know my best option is to go with a set for winter and a set for summer. I may end up doing that but would like to know what tires people have had good and bad experiences with. I'm looking for something that'll hold its own in the snow (I live in Co) while still giving me the dry weather responsiveness to actually enjoy my turbo in the hills. So far I have checked out Goodyear – So far the F1 All season looks the best BFG Yokohama Pirelli Michelin Running the numbers it looks like a 235/50R17 and a 245/45R17 should also fit quite nicely. Anyone run either of these sizes on an OB of my vintage?
  7. So after 24,000 miles I'm in need of new tires on my 05 OB XT. The major wear is occuring on the outside of my rear tires which indicates either excessive toe in or camber. I'm thinking it's toe since the rear end tends to wag a bit on good ice, especially when one side of the car is on dry ground. Anyone else experience this? Did you make an adjustment to the factory alignment specs and how did it work out for you? I have no idea what the factory specs are, I am going to get an alignment and see where it stands and start adjusting from their. Just wondering if I'm the only one with this problem or if it plagues others as well.
