  3. Hi guys, Well y'all sure know how to cut it to the wire, since the tow man is coming tomorrow!! . Mikeshoup I got the dash off for you. Subilover I got the wiper/lights arm thing. Damn that was a bear to get out but I did and all the connections are in good shape, sorry boss cant do the rims dont have the room and the towman cant tow a car with no WHEELS. I also pulled the visors with screws (great shape no tears) and mirror and I few other things I cant think of at the moment. Ill post the pics in a few days. Shoot me a PM and we will work out the bugs.. Cheers Chris:headbang:
  4. Thanks guys... Just as I sent that I knew what it was.. DUH. I highly doubt I pull something that big off anyway. Im thinking small things, mirrors, ect so they dont weigh much to ship.. Oh Well, I tried.. I think Ill call the tow guy tomorrow since my wife is really busting my b*lls about it.Chris

  7. Hi, to all Im parting out my 88 XT 1.8L, manual with the 4WD button on the shifter. Rust has killed the frame and the tranny is on its last leg. .It wont go in to gears very well or at all sometimes. Driver window works OK but the pass you have to love it just right to get it up. Seats OK, Engine, heads..Fine, It runs fine but with a bad tranny its not going any where. Im parting it out for the next 2 weeks then calling the junk man. Let me know what you need and what you are offering. My post office is in NY 13669 All payments need to be made via Paypal before I pull parts off. I have the centercaps on ebay item 8067300069 right now starting bid .01 and NO RES.   9. Its too bad it has some rust in the frame.. I dont have the time/patience to mess with it.. Im having a guy build me a 5 speed SVX.. Im very pumped about it.. $100 from the junk yard man or as they like to say.. Auto dismantlers.. HAHA
  10. Hi, If you mean the clutch fork in the tranny or the fork that hold the cable from the pedal? What did you end up doing? Im pretty much out of ideas? Nothing temperary can be done with out pulling the tranny? thanks Chris

Hi guys, I have 5 weeks left here in Canada (yes the snow is gone) and the tranny/clutch on this thing is really driving me nuts. about a month ago I got it in and pushed the clutch down to start it and I heard a snap/pop noise and the pedal dropped about 1-2inches. It has only got worse from there. It will not go in to gear easily or some times not all. I thought I had too much slack in the clutch cable so I tighten it up. I worked better for a few days but now the clutch pedal is half way to the floor in comparison to the brake pedal and it still doesn work very well If you have it in gear and clutch to the floor it is still engaged and the car will stall out. If in neutral, it is Very hard to go to first, second is a pain but does go. Could this be advance stages of a worn throwout bearing? Clutch cable? What Im looking for is a temp fix to last 5 weeks. The rust is so bad on it that unfortuanatly it has to go to the junk yard, ANYONE WANT SMALL PARTS FOR A SONG?? Any help would appreciated since I dont want to ride the bus to get to work!!   12. Hi Guys, Thanks for the great advice last time.. I put the sensor in and she runs great with NO "check engine" light.. Current issue with My 88 XT. The last few days Ive had trouble putting it in gear. The clutch is all the way in but it wont go smooth.. some times at a stoplight I really have to play with in and jam it it... It does it in gears 1-4. sometimes Ill hear a slight grinding noise when it pops in.. Is there some kind of shift guide that could be worn out? PLS tell me I dont have to drop the tranny to fix this.. I love the car but Im not going to sink crazy money into it since I think the Kellys value is some where between $300-500.00 HA HA... Thanks for any help.. and let me know if you need other info to diagnose properly... Cheers Chris
  13. Thanks for all the info guys... Jerry and I pulled the plugs and it eventually started but that code 21 Coolent temp sensor has to be replaced or it will drive me nuts keeping my foot slightly on the gas for a min or two each time I start it.. I think it was a combo of a weak coil and me flooding it... Yeah Im a bonehead... I looked in the manuals and it looks its a total BEAR to get to that sensor... Intake manifold has to come off... ect.. ect.. Is there any other way to get to it??
  14. Hi folks, I have a real brain teaser.. At least for me.. I had some little issues with the XT since I got it 4 years ago..but I still love it.. Long story short.. A few days ago I started getting really bad throttle response at low RPMS (1st Gear). Since it had been a while I got a new filter.. Not much help.. I checked the basics.. Fuel, conpression, spark. Very weak spark and the coil wouldnt jump 1/2 in to the wire.. SO I got a new coil... ( I think the old one was original.. HAHA).. Still wont start.... I pulled the plugs and turned it over and they spark fine.. I looked in the plug hole and noticed a some gas and a strong smell of gas.. Another forum member Jerry has been a great help but I hate to lean on him for everything so Id like some suggestions so I can solve this myself.. When I turn it over it cranks fine and starts to catch but will not... Im not sure what Im over looking here.. I dont see/hear and vacuum leaks, sparks good, batterys OK.. Im sure all the SUBI fans out here can understand I want to get my XT back on the road..... I hate the BUS!!!!!!!!! HA HA PS for the last 2 years Ive had a code 21 check engine light.. Coolent temp sensor.. but the car always ran expecially when it was somewhat warm... ??? Thanks Chris

  16. Thanks SUBYLUVR. But I suppose I was looking for more specific parts that a higher end. It would be fine if I had a place to keep this dead car but I dont. Further, I dont think folks will drive to Ottawa to come get it or pay the shipping for a few seats, tranny ect... What would I put on the XT-6 site? Come get doner car... trade for case of beer?? I have a clean title on it and current plates... Maybe Ill get some beer out of it???
  17. Hey guys, Im not really sure what else to say about it. I will say that I was driving to work and it was cold so running a little rough. I looked in my rear view and freaked. I was putting out so much smoke that I couldnt see the car behind me. But the car ran fine. I got it home got out and I could smell the antifreeze in the exhaust. I turned it off and tried about an hour later to run it and LOCKED UP. Pulled the plug and all I saw was green in the cylinder. I paid 900 for it and over the last 3 years put 5-600 in it to keep it running but the more I think about it I may have to cut bait and let it go.... Thats sucks cause I really like it but it has other issues too Since Im sure I wont get squat for it at a junk yard what high end (and hopefully small) parts should I pull to get something out of it?? Intakes, seats, air box, alternator, starter???? Maybe Ill get that SVX afterall???? HAHA
  18. Hey guys, Thanks for the info. The down side is I dont think my "mom and pop" place will do the head swap. I dont know if the head is warped or cracked. I think Ill invest some $$ to find out. If its just the gasket then OK if not I may have to take a chance and try the SFI route... Any other suggestions... If I dont come up with something soon I may be able to talk the wife in to letting me get the SVX I want.... UUUMMMM??? Thanks Chris
  19. Hello all, Havent done much here lately but I figure Ill throw this out there and perhaps some of the "Subi nuts" could point me in the right direction.. My 88 XT blew a head gasket and Im not sure if it just the gasket and not the head. Im in Ottawa Canada so shipping from ANYWHERE for even a junkyard engine will be a pain. HAHA Anyway, I have found a few F-4 1.8L in Canada but they have the following issues I found a few turbos... Wont work since mine isnt and the computer will freak I found a few single point injections and I have MPI. Same computer issue as #1 What would you all recommend.... I know one is call a junk yard to come get it... The engine has over 200K on it and has other problems Id like to get rid of ie. Cold start issues, leaks oil..ect. My mechanic said it would be about 400 USD to swap out engines. I found the above ones for about 400 US but they dont work... Is there any EASY way to make them work or am I just dreaming... If anyone has or knows of a late 80's F-4 1.8 engine MPI NON-turbo. Pls let me know... or should I just cut bait?? Cheers Chris
  20. Hey thanks for the info. Im in the Navy in Norfolk. I got the silly button up so the dragging sensation is gone. It still doesnt want to stay running in the morning. Once it warms up its OK. What should I pay for this TPS part? Can I put it in? Ill have it looked at soon if I can figure out this cold start issue and have them renew the gear oil in both the transaxles and look for any binding. Can you think of any thing else to do? thanks Chris PS FLY NAVY!!!
  21. Hello to all, This is my first post so bear with me. I have a 88 XT4 with push button 4wd. I never used the 4WD until VA got 4 in of snow dumped on us. I noticed it worked so thats good. Problem is that it feels like its dragging when Im coasting. Next issue, I cant get the damn button to pop back up!! HA HA. Also, I noticed that it wont stay running when I first start it up (when its cold out). Possible auto choke not working??? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Chris in VA
