  1. My 1998 Forester is not firing on no 4. When you swap the power connector from 2 - 4, 4 fires but 2 doesn't. Code reader says the Cam Sensor is bad, replaced it and checked the wheel with magnets. The code reader has said that there is low voltage to no. 4 and there have been misfires on 3 and 4. Lots of black smoke and very bad gas mileage. Any ideas. Michael in Spokane
  2. I have a new to me 96 Legacy Outback with a manual transmission. Having had clutches most of my life I have found that this one is different. It seems I must have the clutch all the way in to the floor before the engine will start. Is there a way to either disable it or to adjust it? Mike, KD7GHZ
  3. Hi, I live just in the valley by Felts Field on Dora Rd. Mike, KD7GHZ 88 Wagon 87 Sedan 96 Outback
  4. Well the 1999 didn't work out. We opted for a 96 Legacy Outback with 108000 miles and a manual 5 speed. The engine runs strong and the manual in my opinion is much better suited for the 2.2 than the auto. It is not the dog that the 95 with the auto was. Thanks for the replies though. Mike, KD7GHZ:)
  5. I am looking at a 1999 Legacy Outback with the 2.5L H4 engine. It looks like it could be turbo since the hood has the built in air scoop. How are these engines the car has 160000 miles. Help. Mike, KD7GHZ
  6. I believe my ABS relays are shot. They will keep going after I turn off the car and run down the battery. I was told I could just take them out for now and then replace them. However, I am now sure where they are by the front head light. Does anyone have a picture? Mike, KD7GHZ
  7. Well, I got my Legacy fixed. I had to take to a local Subaru Repair Place, it was recommended by the Snap-On Driver that comes into my store. It would appear that when I tried to repair the car I sort of messed it up. They fixed it and O2 Sensor and it works great. Only cost 290 to have it done. No complaints. It's my wifes car and to have it work right is worth it. Mike, KD7GHZ
  8. OK. I replaced the Elcectric Thermostor Control Sensor. Wow what a lot of stuff to go through. Now it doesn't really start. It sputters, and spits. Then it will die. HELP. HELP HELP Mike, KD7GHZ
  9. OK. I will check it. Not to sound dumpt, but maybe, not knowledgeable. Where is the fan switch? Also, how to I get rid of air if it is in there? Thanks for the help. Mike, KD7GHZ
  10. Yes it was. It actually was worse. The enigne light was on before also. Mike, KD7GHZ
  11. Hi, I replaced my thermostat, with the subaru OEM, put in new anitfreeze, and the car ran well for about an hour. Then it started to get hot as I was idling at a train stop. Turned around turned the heat on and drove and it cooled down. Then engine light is still on and it seems to run hot. I have plenty of heat when I turn it on, but that seems to make it run cooler. Help!!!!! This is my wifes car and she needs it to get around. Mike, KD7GHZ
  12. Went to the Subaru Dealer got another theromostat, installed it and no leaking. Finished putting in antifreeze and it seems to work. I ran it for about 45 minutes and it did not get hot, seemed to get hot when the vehicle wasn't moving. Fans all work, heat out of the heater. So we will now wait and see. Mike, KD7GHZ
  13. Yes, I used all the new parts. One thing that I noticed is that there is no gastet between the housing and the engine, like on other cars. Mike
  14. I stopped NAPA to get a thermostat for my 95 Legacy 2.2. Took the old one out, and replaced it with the new one and gasket. However, it leaks and I was afraid to tighten the bolts any further. I noticed that the gasket goes around the thermostat, not like the one on my 88. So, what did I do wrong? Mike, KD7GHZ
  15. My daughter has a chance to purchase a 1989 XT-6. It has about 190,000 on it. It does not have the turbo and is an auto. Is there anything that she or we should look for and what are the pros and cons of this year and model. Thanks, Mike, KD7GHZ
