  1. Thanks for the heads up. Both of these have brand new outer shafts, but only one had a .001-.002 ridge on the front of the race which seemed like a machining mistake more than anything. Not sure on the exact name of the part, but we're going to take the four bolts off that hold the hub(?) to the spindle and try to use a nut and washer to pull the axle through the bearing before we do any more removal of material.
  2. Yeah, we were using a file to smooth the transition onto the first race. It measured 1.380 IIRC while the rest of the race is 1.378. The axle that went in no problem measured 1.378 uniformly. We've been filing that burr at the end and then using some abrasive cloth to make sure the rest of the race stays uniform. We're measuring as well to make sure it stays as even as possible. PITA to make this last one fit, but these axles are NICE compared to the GCK ones that came out. -Joe
  3. Yeah, I'll see if I can grab a ride with Steve down and help.
  4. I have one cookout lined up in June already on a Saturday (20th I believe), but any others should be fine.
  5. You too. Depending on when it is, sure. Thanks! I have no idea what it was. The car was...in perfect shape and looked mean.
  6. Glad you liked them I'm using a Sony DSC-P92 5mp point and shoot. I forgot my tripod so they are a bit grainier than I would like. I post-processed all of them in Photoshop. There were a lot of pics so I couldn't fine tune the levels on each one, but I was able to clean them up a decent amount. Messing with the color balance (adding more yellow since my camera loves adding lots of blue...I probably need a filter) and the levels makes a huge difference on any picture. Thanks!
  7. Ok, done. Check it out! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88747
  8. Here are some full show shots. I didn't have a tripod so the pictures don't line up well enough to make one big panoramic. I have high-res versions of all of those if anyone would like some.
  9. Well, I figured I would start a new thread for this one. Might be the easiest to just have everyone add their pics as replies and get one huge thread. Before I put the pics up, I'll just make a quick intro. For those of you who were at Carlisle, I'm Joe (the guy who co-drove with Steve from CT). I don't own a Subie, but Mom has a 01 Forester L if that counts and my Uncle swore by Subies and owned a few EA81 and EA82 wagons until the day he died. I drive an 01 Focus ZX3 and an 85 XR4Ti: Not much done on it, just intake, throttle body, exhaust, koni's, 17" Ford Racing wheels and some other small things. It's a fun DD. The XR is pretty stock, Koni coilovers up front, rears are still in the box, MBC, cone filter, etc. (Near Side) Now to the Carlisle pics: I made the 6 hour treck out to Carlisle this weekend with a buddy of mine for the Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals in his Subie. Not much else to say. Awesome show. Weather was good for the majority of Saturday and camping wasn't bad in the rain Friday night and Sunday morning. I didn't leave empty handed either. I picked up the edition of Road and Track with the 02 SVT road test and the March 85 issue with the writeup of the 85 XR4Ti. Pretty cool vintage ads in there as well for the car. Also had to stop at Harry's on the way back and I yanked a metal Zetec valve cover in the pouring rain from a beat Contour. Car had over 200k on it and the 3rd and 4th cylinders were full of a nice coolant/oil mix. $7 for the cover with bolts and grommets  Here is Steve's golden chariot that drove us there and back. Some pics from on the way there: Here are the rest of the pictures in no particular order. I didn't get pictures of the gorgeous white Audi R8 that showed up
  10. I have all my pics uploaded (94). Where should I post them? Make a new thread in the Meet and Greet area or somewhere else?
  11. Yup, the drive was fine. Something is definitely up with his alignment because the tire that was a bit worn at the show didn't have much tread left on the outside edge when we got back and the car pulled to the right the whole way home. Looks like a definite toe problem on that side. The car wouldn't start when we got back to my apartment either. No clicks, no blown fuses or anything. Waited 20minutes and it started no problem....odd. Other than that it was good. I'll throw some pics up of the XR soon.
  12. Real fun event. Nice meeting you guys. First time to Carlisle and enjoying the wonders of Waffle House and grits I'll have my Subie and non-Subie related pics up from the show after I run through them and an intro thread if I can get around to it. Joe (FecalJet)
