We shall see about the EG33 it would be the perfect engine/trans for it tho:brow: DILLIGAF DJ

Jim I think we have a difference in our thoughts about what a buggy looks like.Your idea is very good a skid steer 6x6(or 8x8 or how many you want) for slow go anywhere amphibian vehicle,My idea is a bit more like a beach buggy with full suspension able to do full road speed maybe on air suspension... yeah fulltime 4WD would be the ultimate but I dont have any at the moment also front one an auto would be good as well..

I have seen a morris with a 13b turbo rotary in it(one of the guys I did my apprenticeship with built it) went like a cut cat bloody hard to stop did awesome burnouts... have also seen one with a leyland V8 in it...
-
Zefy You have it exactly right the second trans will be locked in forth gear I will leave the other gears in there just in case I want to run the rear end as a pusher(change it to fifth) or being pulled by the front end(change it to 3rd) also gives me possiblities should I fry the front trans... yeah it will be for low speed(well maybe 50mph) running... I may have access to an ej33 outta a SVX as we just got one for NZD1200 which is about USD 600 but the engine was going into our jetboat... DILLIGAF DJ

Ok all other of my projects('86 Leone RX Coupe into a Ute,Subaru powered Trike and Rotary into a Legacy) have beeen put on the back burner because I have decided what I am going to do first and that is a 6x6 off road buggy made from Subaru parts... Here goes the idea EA82T and gearbox in the front then short drive shaft(just long enuff to seat two people) to another gearbox locked in 4th(one to one I think) then outta the rear of the to a rear diff, thus giving me 2 4 and 6 wd (and the possibility of the rear set either pushing the front or being pulled by it) thinking maybe 6x6x6 (all steerable) but will get the 6x6 running first... Man I hate having all those old Subies lying around giving me these bloody ideas.. DILLIGAF DJ

I too have a Morris minor but mine is fully restored(if I knew The EA81 running gear might fit it woulda saved me a heap of money) it is a '56 4 door and has cost me more than its worth but it is a great looking car and was my first car.... DJ

Tramsmission will the usual Subaru Auto with AWD will mate rotary to this shouldnt take much just an adapter plate to be made up..
-
Now before you all say WWHHHYYYY because I can that is why and also because I have a '89 GT sedan with no engine as a donor car and I think an AWD rotang mite actually be pretty cool.. DILLIGAF DJ

The way I am going about building a trike is using the FWD gearbox from a '84 leone and mating to the rear end of a 4wd of the same year(only cause it is a torsion bar set up) which shoud give me a rather compact rear end and should handle well as the engine will be forward of the rear axle... Hes a farmer in otorohanga(dont think that is the right spelling)which isnt far from me or you...

I have seen on eof these beasts in the flesh, all of the radiators and batterys fuel tank are over the rear axle. These look way better in the flesh they are low and mean I was talking with the builder(it was its real first outting at the WRC last year) and he said it was damn quick to 100 km/h but then got a bit scary.. He is planning on doing a KIT for them...

RWD is ok but why not drop in an AWD gearbox from the Vortex and have AWD instead

you are exactly right about the scale thingy that sounds exactly like how they do it to tune the twin Strombergs on the V8 Rover(spit) -

go with the twin carbies just BECAUSE no other reasons and while your at it put twin exhaust on it so that it breaths real easy.. My project '86 RX Ute(was one a Coupe) will have twin exhausts up the back of the cab(big rig style) and I intend to flick the turbo and install a supercharger why BECAUSE I CAN thats why no other reasons -
High pitched whistle varies with rpm?

Could be all that has been suggested also does it have A/C if so they have an idler to adjust the belt tension and they make this sorta noise when they start to go disconnect Air Con belt and see if it goes away.. -
Ok even tho the size iz imperial I can tell you what the numbers mean and stainless steel is by far the best choice. 1/4=diametre of screw which in metric is about 6mm(6.35 to be exact) 20 is the Threads per inch 3/4=length of screm measured from below the head about 19mm for us metric dudes.. Now for my little rant one thing that bugs me and you guys in the US may not have a large choice is the use of a combination of imperial(or US)bolts nuts and Screws on a Metric vehicle it just makes things hard when you are like me a mechanic

Does my 1990 Loyale have a VSS?
DJtheGOD replied to mbrickell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No it wouldnt have one a wee bit early for that sort of do hicky, the magnetic setup would have to come of one of the front drive shafts but this could be not 100% as the front drive shafts trun at different speeds while turning
