  3. driving around town it doesnt overheat so bad gauge goes up to about three quarters and stays. theres no water in oil and no oil in coolant. also heater blows ho t air. if head gasket was blown would i not see steam. also other than rough idle the car runs smooth. whats the best way to check water ppump?

  8. i've got a u-joint gone bad. the parts place only list one and it's way too big. i guess i'll order it from subaru dealership. is it ok to run it with the driveshaft out if i use silicone to keep it from leaking the fluid out. also, does it take 80 wt. ? 1986 gl wagon
  9. sorry, there is no transfer case on that car, just some type of hub back there
  10. replacing u-joint on upper front drive shaft. if i take driveshaft loose from the hub will the shaft just pull out? 1986 gl wagon
  11. think i need to take my 86 gl wagon in to have carb kit put in. how much should it cost? it's a 1.8l 2 bl. e e
  12. what's the normal charge for a mechanic to replace timing belts on the 86 gl anyway?
  13. also, if it was a valve problem wouldnt it be smoking or be making some type of internal noise ?
  14. that's what i'm thinkiing. although i thought all you had to do was line up the markings
  15. without looking at the car yet, that's what the mechanic told me over the phone, that it was probably a valve problem. it all started when i broke the timing belt. once the belts were replaced---------engine misfires and no compression. i thought since it was noninterferance engine, once belts were replaced everything would be cool
  16. just trying to get an estimate on what i would have to pay my mechanic to replace a bent valve. it's a 1986 subaru gl wagon. 1.8l
