  1. I am experiencing a rattle/ping sound after warm up under aceleration over 20 mph and am wondering if it could be knock sensor related. CEL has not come on and mileage and performance are great. But the sound is similar to other postings when it's sensor related and occurs at the same time as others have explained. I did just get a new short block and cat installed and had the injectors cleaned. 06 Legacy 152k on it And thoughts? Thanks, Steve
  2. Gloyale, are you saying my symptoms sound like exhaust leak? Or are you replying to the earlier post?
  3. Ive followed this thread because I've had a similar experience. I just had short block, tensioner and cat replaced on my 06 Leg 2.5i.It just turned 150k Short block from loss of power and slivers in oil, cat for exhaust leak(not heard but detecteded by tech) and tensioner because of oil leakf rom around it. The head gaskets were replaced too. After it was done, the pick up was back and mpg back to normal, but there was some tap that wasn't there before. It was determined by my tech, who is Subie certified and works at a local dealership, that the injectors sounded clogged. He then did a injector cleaning and the tap was gone. But now after all that, there seems to be a rattle when accelerating at about 20-40 mph coming from the drivers side. We checked and tightened all heat shields so that is ruled out. It sems to be more noticeable after warm up and the noise seems to be in sync with the RPMs, sounding like a quicker rattle at higher RPM.But it doesn't throw a code or affect performance. It's more annoying than anything else, just loud enough to be heard.I've read it could be exhaust leak, maybe a bad new cat? Any ideas? Thanks Steve

  5. Product called Ethos will help. Increases fuel efficiency and helps engine run cleaner.I've added 1-2 mpg more every fill-up since using for the past 2 years
  6. The airbag and cruise lights on my 06 Legacy occasionally come on for no reason.I'd get it checked but it seems to go away within a day or two.Anyone ever have a similar problem?

  7. Just an FYI to anyone who reads this post--the spoiler I bought from this company was a great deal for the money. The paint job was perfect, delivery timely and price was unbeatable. Only complaint would be the assembly instructions were marginal at best and the screws they sent were too short. Other than that, I would recommend them.
  8. I just bought an 06 Legacy last week and want to add a rear spoiler to it. I found a company on-line in Edison NJ called Woodview Auto Acces. They list a painted spoiler for less than $200 including shipping. Does anyone know of this company and thier reputation? Thier price seems almost too good to believe. Thanks, Steve
  9. I just heard about this product that is supposed to increase gas mileage and performance, all naturally. I know someone who has used it for 4 months and increased their mileage on a 05 Durango from 15 to 17.5 mpg. I'm usually skeptical of these types of products, but the testimonials on the website seem credible and it comes with a money back guarantee. Anybody try it yet?
  10. Thanks for all the replies. I'll keep my eyes open for any changes in oil consumption and have my tech check the pcv next oil change.
  11. Hi, I have an 02 Legacy L,auto, I bought last August that was a one-owner trade-in with 98k miles. Since buying, I have replaced the front and rear brakes, plugs, wires, tuned up, timing belt and tensioner--all general maintenance work that was due. The car runs great, I'm even getting better than manufacturer listed mileage, about 25 combined town/hiway and 30 hiway with 127k on it now. I'm being told by my trusted mechanic and the dealer there is leaking from the valve stems that is not detectable from under the car at oil chnage time, but is causing the car to lose about a quart per 3k miles. From what I've read on this site and other places is that this is a common Subaru problem. My concern is if this is something that should be addressed sooner rather than later and to what amount of work and money will this entail? I've put about $1500 out for the work I've done so far and I don't want to jeopordize the money I've invested in it. I hope to keep it long enough to be my 14 year old daughter's first car. Any advice?
